Mindset and High Performance Coach
My own business - Set Yourself Free; digital nomad
I initially moved out of the USA to South Korea to teach English in 2017. While I was in South Korea, I started a gluten free website and eventually went on to build and sell a dedicated gluten free app. In 2019, I finally worked through a lot of my fears holding me back from starting my own online coaching business, and decided to go all in on using my skill set and superpower of supporting others.
Working from anywhere! I currently have been spending a bunch of time in Mexico and as long as I have a wifi connection, I can work anywhere.
It can be lonely, so it's important to seek out intentional relationships and connections. I've found FB groups and other online forums super helpful in creating connections with colleagues, joining masterminds, etc.
With my other business (my gluten free business), I traveled extensively in Asia pre-pandemic. I was in South Korea, Japan, the Philippines, Hong Kong, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia. Since starting my current business I have been in Vietnam, Mexico, and the United States. I'm currently in love with Mexico City and all the great cafes, restaurants, and fun city vibes!
I prefer a mix of co-working space, home, and coffee shops to mix it up!
I'd like to go to Portugal, Spain, and Greece and other parts of Europe soon
Remote work and particularly being an entrepreneur is fantastic cause you get to create your own schedule. And with this, you also have to be disciplined and ensure you are prioritizing what matters.
Distractions or shiny objects can run rampant. I use the Pomodoro method to help with this. Seriously cannot recommend this enough for 25 minutes (minimum) per day of completely focused work.
Lack of routine/schedule if you don’t set it yourself. I believe it's really important to know what kind of person you are. Do you need routine? Or do you thrive off different schedules every day? Self-awareness is critical here and knowing what you need! Plenty of people will say in order to be “successful” you have to get dressed in nice clothes every day and put on makeup. I’m not one of those people. I work most days in yoga pants and often have come straight from the gym since I love my routine of daily CrossFit workouts. It’s up to you to sort out what you need and then figure out how to make that happen, along with accountability!
Pomodoro method for productivity and then another tool if you use Facebook is Facebook eradicator.
I have a CPA and always recommend outsourcing items that are not in your zone of genius!
Create a schedule for yourself. Figure out what helps motivate you and ensure to put that on your calendar each week. Seek out other people work remotely and make sure you are connecting with them to ensure you have human interaction each week!
