How did you start with a remote work journey?

Started by collaborating with clients from the US in 2017 when I was helping them with digital advertising (mainly through Facebook Ads).

What do you think are the main benefits of working remotely?

Freedom. Flexibility. Autonomy.

Do you think there are disadvantages or that you’re missing something by working remotely?

Sure, social aspect, separating personal and professional life is really difficult, especially as you work from home and with different time zones.

From what cities or countries have you worked since you have become remote? What are your favourite countries or cities to work from?

Ljubljana (Slovenia). Singapore, Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia), Berlin (Germany), Vienna (Austria), Phuket, Bangkok (Thailand), Indonesia, Sri Lanka, Cambodia, Dubai, Italy, Croatia, Mexico, etc.. I really enjoyed Singapore and Croatia.

From what type of places do you prefer to work? Home, co-working spaces, coffee shops or others?

Home (if stable wifi :)) perhaps also co-working space.

What places would you like to travel to while working remotely?

USA, South America (traveling there tomorrow :)), Canada.

What challenges did you face and how did you overcome them? Share your remote productivity, communication, management, etc. tips based on your experience!

Setting my tasks a week in advance and prepare sticky notes with to-dos at the end of each day for the next working day. Focusing on one project at a time. Meaning, I only work on one project (i.e. Chrome, Slack, Asana, etc.) is only based on one client/project before moving on to the next.

What tools you use to improve productivity and manage work efficiently?

Toggl - for time tracking, sticky notes (physical and virtual), Google Calendar, Asana, Productivity pack from Traffic and Funnels.

How do you manage your business and taxes as a remote working professional?

Through an accountant.

What advice would you give to people looking to work remotely?

Ask yourself if this is something in accordance with your values, there are benefits and drawbacks. But if you can be self-disciplined, autonomous, and can manage your time, it can be a great adventure.
