Senior QA Automation Engineer

The Senior QA Automation Engineer reports to the Reliability and QA Manager as part of the Retail Payments & Hardware Reliability Team. You will be responsible for developing well-designed test cases, leading and performing rigorous manual and automation testing of mobile application functionality, investigating issues, and thoroughly documenting all results.

This role works closely and collaboratively with stakeholders from across the company,and is involved with all aspects of the company's development lifecycle including design, development and support of the deployed solutions. You will be responsible for converting support centre tickets into actionable defects for the development team. This role is also responsible for verifying and validating new and existing features, functionality, and enhancements of the Shopify POS mobile application with card reader devices.

 

Skills and Qualifications

• 7 or more years experience in designing and creating test case scenarios for mobile applications on both iOS and Android.
• Minimum 3 years of experience creating and executing automation test scripts using industry-standard automation tools like Appium and Selenium.
• 3 or more years of experience in POS application testing.
• Autonomous, able to navigate an organization, find resources on a cross- functional team, ask questions, learn, and achieve high-quality results independently.
• Proficient in end-to-end testing, not only in delivering a polished user experience but also in keeping the important user flows and business logic in mind.
• Demonstrated track record of effective problem-solving.
• Demonstrated knowledge of testing best practices, version control practices and defect management.
• Knowledge of Quality Assurance terminology, methods and testing tools.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Able to communicate proficiently, concisely and effectively with others.
• Ability to remain flexible and adapt to changing priorities with professionalism, efficiency, and ease while maintaining strong merchant focus.
• Comfortable working in a Mac environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• React Native Automation testing and framework experience a plus.
• Appium automation framework creation.
• POS Application testing experience.
• Card Reader testing experience.
• Embedded software testing experience.
