The Marketing Specialist works collaboratively with the Marketing team and central services partners to organize and execute engaging, effective marketing campaigns which reflect our customers’ interests, needs and behaviors.  With a majority focus on digital marketing channels, the Specialist ensures each campaign is designed, executed, tracked, measured and incorporates industry best practices.  The ideal candidate is ready to expand her/his skills and marketing impact, run with ideas, and play an active role growing our audience database and overall brand engagement through our expanded product, service and event offerings.

Job Description

The Marketing Specialist supports the execution of the brand marketing campaigns led by the Marketing Director and assists with other marketing and brand tasks.   

Day-to-day Responsibilities

Strategy and Planning (10%):

  • Supports Marketing Director in identifying opportunities to improve campaign performance and operating efficiency
  • Works with Marketing Director and Design Team to ensure all campaigns and communications reflect each brand’s value proposition, look/feel/voice as well as our customers’ interests and needs

Campaign execution (65%)

  • Partner with Marketing Automation Specialist to develop email campaigns to capture and nurture new leads, promote the events, engage with customers throughout the year, drive retention
  • Work with internal web teams and external digital agencies on SEO, SEM, Retargeting, display ad efforts
  • Assist with the segmentation process for all events, tracks and reports on performance working with cross functional teams
  • Enrich campaigns through use of speakers, association/media partners and experiential marketing activities championed by Brand and Content teams
  • Responsible for ongoing marketing web site updates including custom landing pages, lead capture forms and behavioral data tracking
  • Assist in asset/collateral development such as emails, VIP invites, digital referral/amplification technologies, direct mail, etc.
  • Assist with non-digital campaigns and marketing communication projects including print, telemarketing, special events, PR

Reporting (15%)

  • Works with marketing and data analytics peers to track and report all campaign activity
  • Assist with purchase orders, vendor invoices and maintenance of weekly marketing budget tracker
  • Assists with post-event surveys, marketing performance reviews and ad hoc analysis requests as needed

Miscellaneous (10%)

  • Business travel < 5% per year
  • Support team with related corporate initiatives, including periodic support for other Connect NY brand groups as needed

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, business or related field
  • Minimum of 2 years marketing experience, including at least 1 year with hands-on digital marketing or marketing automation experience
  • Ability to succeed in a in a fast-paced environment with rapidly changing priorities
  • Self-motivated, high energy and team oriented
  • High attention to detail, specifically grammar and a good eye for proofreading
  • Excellent interpersonal and copywriting skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work under deadlines
  • Hands-on experience with at least one End-to-End marketing execution or analytics tool, such as Eloqua, Google Analytics, Tableau (or comparable apps), Adobe Experience Manager or Drupal (or similar CMS tools)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
