Job Description

We’re looking for an experienced Content Director to join our Creative Services team! This full-time role is currently remote, and based out of our Toronto headquarters.

As our Content Director, you’ll empower and nurture your team of writers and provide strategic guidance as they execute compelling content for our clients. You’ll partner cross-functionally with Creative and Client Service Directors, and ensure all content is top-notch, and aligned with our clients’ values.

Messaging is your superpower. You’re adept at balancing and respecting the client’s brand, while also crafting compelling content. Storytelling is key to this role and you are able to write a good one. Interpersonal relationships and collaboration are your strengths. You care about the people you lead and you’re known for bringing out the best in them. You’re also known for the valued relationships you build with your cross-functional partners.

Acting as a trusted advisor to our clients, you're an effective listener who makes recommendations that demonstrate your deep knowledge of creating marketing content and championing best practices. You have the ability to zero in and identify capability and capacity gaps, then lead your team to effectively deliver projects that exceed expectations.

This role is equal parts leadership and execution. You’re at your best when you roll up your sleeves and lead by example—meaning you are a great writer who thrives when leading and working with a team. As a leader you are patient, empathetic, and motivated to help your team excel.

 What you’ll do:

  • Lead the Content Team and drive content strategy for Brainrider clients
  • Join early project meetings, assess the state of the content, and provide recommendations in partnership with clients and Account Directors
  • Collaborate with cross-functional partners to build and refine ideas, using the design to push the content, and the content to push the design
  • Ensure content created follows Brainrider and content best practices, and is aligned with client objectives and their customers’ needs and pains
  • Help proof and refine deliverables and provide QA support, as needed
  • Work closely with VP of Resourcing to ensure the right people are assigned to client projects within our flex model (dedicated, embedded and project-based)
  • Provide seasoned, strategic editorial support to thought leaders on internal thought pieces, and internal and external presentations
  • Coach and guide Content Managers to meet their team and professional development goals
  • Conduct performance reviews for direct reports, and ensure they are equipped to conduct performance reviews for their own teams
  • Adeptly balance and troubleshoot the needs of the Content Team with the requests/issues from other teams
  • Attend Directors meetings to ensure alignment across the company; provide Creative Services updates at Global Huddle

Qualifications

What you'll bring:

  • Experience creating content across a variety of formats (e.g., blog articles, case studies, whitepapers, infographics, videos)
    • Please provide links to writing samples/portfolio (PDF, URLs) with your application
  • 8+ years as a full-time writer across a range of B2B marketing roles (e.g., creative/content strategy, editorial, etc.)
  • 4+ years team leadership experience and an empathetic, roll-up-your-sleeves approach to developing your people
    • Background in journalism, communications or copywriting in an agency environment
    • Ability to learn and embody a range of tones and voices in written form, across a variety of project types and teams
    • Knack for distilling big ideas into accessible, compelling narratives
    • Genuine desire to develop collaborative internal partnerships (e.g. Creative Services, Production, Client Services, Resourcing, Finance, Operations, Marketing, People, and VP level leadership)
    • Strong troubleshooting, organizational and project management skills across multiple simultaneous projects
    • Impeccable grammar and technical writing skills
    • Patience and diplomacy, and a sense of humor to compliment both
    • B2C experience not required (but could be a plus)

    Additional Information

Due to current COVID-19 guidelines this full-time Canada-based position is 100% remote/work from home until further notice. (Offices pending reopening in early 2022.)

    The fine print:

    • Please include with your application:
      • PDF, URL, or links to samples of relevant content work
