Job Description

Aurora is seeking an innovative, self-motivated individual who has a passion to drive improvements in software, processes and individuals. The selected candidate must be able to evaluate new technologies and understand how those technologies can be used to achieve business goals. They must be able to present designs and plans to peers and stakeholders across the business. adjusting tone and context to suit the audience as needed. Design approaches should be pragmatic; balancing that design against business requirements and constraints to provide a path to the solution that is achievable for the teams and budgets.

Evidence of having built a greenfield enterprise application, and having that application successfully deployed and maintained would be a strong benefit.

Salary £75,000 per annum

Communication

  • Strong organisational and leadership skills.
  • Present concepts to senior management confidently and in an appropriate context.
  • Be able to work with a range of technical teams to collate their input to a project, or to help facilitate projects that span multiple teams.
  • Gather requirements from various stakeholders around the business.
  • Must be able to listen and accept views and opinions from others and provide justification/challenges where needed.

Support

  • Undertake tasks outside the role where needed to ensure deadlines are met.
  • Assist with technical challenges at any level if needed.
  • Be proficient in problem solving and troubleshooting.
  • Support and guide various teams throughout a projects lifecycle.
  • Be able to present information to, or gather requirements from customers to help support other teams within the project lifecycle.

Design and Research

  • Research different technologies in the marketplace, evaluate those solutions and also present and document the findings and recommendations to a technical and non technical audience.
  • Estimate project costings in terms of infrastructure and licensing requirements.
  • Assess current implementations and evaluate areas of improvement.
  • Continually probe the processes currently in place, looking for opportunities to improve them.
  • Be able to self-organise so that multiple projects can run simultaneously without stalling.
  • Understand the business priorities on various tasks and evaluate the effect maintaining them on project complexities, resourcing and budgets.
  • Propose phased approaches to the designs where needed so that the overall goal is achieved with minimal disruption to existing systems.

 

Qualifications

  •  5+ years as a software developer
  • Experience in a technical leadership position.
  • Experience with delivering enterprise grade systems that process large volumes of data.
  • Preferably have experience with billing and CRM systems.
  • Public cloud experience (primarily AWS).
  • Appreciation of data warehousing techniques for both on premise and cloud solutions.
  • Deep understanding of software design methodologies.
  • Appreciation of scripting languages and the implications on security and data access when using them.
  • Excellent communication skills.
