What you’ll be doing

A Staff AWS Data DevOps Engineer is a hands-on technical position on our DevOps team with a specialization in Data, Data Management, and Machine Learning. Your role will be to architect and implement data pipelines, data lifecycles, data migrations, data governance, and guidance for data engineers. 

Our platform has been implemented using “Infrastructure as code” concepts. Advanced skills in Python or equivalent are a necessity. The candidate will be responsible for enforcing best practices in automation deployment, security, infrastructure, AWS, etc. A successful candidate must be able to work in a fast-paced environment where priorities may change depending on business needs. Past experiences on a DevOps team are a must. Familiarity in Agile practice is a plus.

Responsibilities:

  • Architect, implement, document, and support CI/CD ML pipelines
  • Work with Data Engineering teams and architects to create solutions for their business needs
  • Automate security controls and governance for all Data types in our environment
  • Architect, deploy, document, and support cloud platform capabilities using AWS best practices
  • Author Agile stories, estimate story points, assist with sprint planning and retrospectives
  • Perform advanced technical troubleshooting for cloud and e-commerce environments
  • Participate in on-call rotation with the team

Qualifications

  • At least 5 years supporting DevOps concepts
  • Production experience with public cloud (AWS, Google or Azure – AWS strongly preferred)
  • Strong knowledge of DevOps CI/CD tools (IE: AWS Codebuild, AWS Codepipeline, Travis CI, Harness IO, Spinnaker, Jenkins, Nexus OSS, Artifactory, Github, Github Actions, etc)
  • Experience in the following technologies for ML/Data: AWS Sagemaker, AWS Sagemaker Pipelines, AWS Sagemaker Model Monitor, AWS Sagemaker Clarify, Hadoop, Spark, Scala, Kafka, AWS EMR, AWS Glue, Apache Airflow
  • Experience with SQL and NoSQL data stores
  • Big Data experience a plus
  • Fluent in popular scripting languages (IE: python, Node.js, Ruby, Golang)
  • Experience with infrastructure management tools (IE: Troposphere, Terraform, etc)
  • Experience in containerization and Docker/Kubernetes environments
  • Linux system administration experience
  • Bachelor of Science or comparable experience
  • Qualifications Required:
  • Operationally savvy, experience with monitoring, alerting, and analyzing system metrics to identify problems and understand system behavior
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, e-commerce environment
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • A passion for innovation and automation
  • Strong documentation skills
  • Self-starter
