Job Description

The Data Analyst is an energetic, pragmatic, proactive individual working with our Special Tax Credits Consulting group. The individual should be able to work independently on credits, thinking critically and be able to identify potential problems with any data or client fact patterns. They should be able to resolve issues with their understanding of the credit in question or seek assistance when they are unable to do so.

Responsibilities

The Data Analyst is responsible for building data files and calculating client projects within our Special Tax Credits group.  The individual will work independently and participate in client facing and internal discussions concerning the analysis of client fact patterns, the availability of supporting data and how to best calculate the credits.

The role of the Data Analyst will be to understand the Employee Retention Tax Credit and how TCC calculates the credit.

  • Manage very large data sets, solve questions using the data, and create complex algebraic formulae to analyze the data properly.
  • Understand data integrity and perform self-review using quality controls throughout a project to ensure that data is not corrupted during analysis as to generate erroneous results.
  • Document any steps, assumptions, additional analyses or other important information that is part of the calculation process in order to provide an audit trail for future reference.
  • Document client fact patterns and narratives in a clear, concise manner.
  • Speak up and seek clarification when the data and/or results contradict expectations.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required (J.D., Master of Taxation, or other graduate degree preferred)
  • Experience with quantitative data analysis
  • Exceptionally proficient in Microsoft Excel
  • Outstanding project management skills
  • Takes initiative and ownership over work
  • Solid organizational skills with emphasis on time management
  • Strong critical-thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to both work independently and collaborate in a team environment
  • Adaptive to ever-changing client needs, processes, and technology
