Site Reliability Engineer

Pingboard is looking for an empathetic, curious, and security-focused Site Reliability Engineer to join our Engineering Team. Reporting to the CTO, the primary responsibilities of this role are maintaining and improving the security, reliability, and efficiency of Pingboard’s SaaS applications at the infrastructure level. This is an individual contributor role where you can build your technical and leadership skills and found  the SRE function at Pingboard. You’ll be working with a small but growing team of people on modern Rails/React applications. Pingboard helps companies connect, empower and propel transparency to be better-working teams around the world.

Empowered to:

• Own the reliability and monitoring functions of Pingboard’s platform

• Institute and uphold best practices for building and operating secure and reliable systems

• Conduct timely infrastructure and configuration management

• Serve as subject matter expert in security, observability, and monitoring

• Consult with developers in system design to meet reliability, capacity, and security requirements

• Assist in operational data privacy, security, and compliance

• Participate in an on-call rotation for (rare, we promise) incident escalations

Success requires:

• 3+ years experience in an SRE role

• Experience with incident detection and response management

• Problem solving skills, including ability to triage and get to root cause and resolution

• Experience implementing observability and monitoring systems

• Experience supporting applications hosted on the AWS platform

• Ability to collaborate with people in Engineering and Support on cross-functional projects

Bonus Points if you have:

• Strong interest in creating best practices for preventing, detecting and responding to security threats

• Experience supporting applications hosted on the Heroku platform

• Experience supporting Ruby on Rails applications

This is a full time position open to remote work located in Austin, TX or within the U.S.
