Company Description

Senior Producer - Digital Theatre+

Who are we?
Digital Theatre+ is used by over 4 million students in over 3000 schools, colleges and universities around the world. Currently unrivalled in the education market sector and with ongoing investment, we are growing our team and operate with the spirit of a highly entrepreneurial scale up . We believe the arts are for everyone, not the few, and we want to bring live performance into every classroom and library, along with tools and content.

Although this has been a rollercoaster of a year, the EdTech industry is an expanding market and we are uniquely situated to help shape how educational institutions use technology to enhance a student’s learning experience in the digital age (both in the classroom and remotely). Digital Theatre+ has adapted particularly well to the ‘new normal’ and has introduced a hybrid remote first working model. Whilst you will have access to an office based in London, you will have added flexibility to help you maintain a healthy work-life balance.

Who are you?
The Senior Producer is the production team lead at Digital Theatre, managing a small team of one or two Producers and a large team of freelancers to deliver high-quality short-form educational a/v content for Digital Theatre+. The Senior Producer works with the Director of Education to plan the annual production programme, mentors and oversees the Producers, and is the project lead on a selection of individual a/v projects.

Digital Theatre+, being a scale-up business, is ever-changing and constantly evolving. We are looking for those who do not fear change, but relish in it! Come and join a creative team dedicated to providing an excellent service to those who will benefit from using our product.

Job Description

In the role, you will get to:

  • Work with the Director of Education to schedule and resource the annual production programme, adjusting to changes of priority as required, and highlighting and mitigating any risks

  • Work with the commissioning team on a selection of high-stakes projects to understand the market and project requirements and turn them into a fully fledged, workable a/v concept. These will typically be new strands of work and require strong creative input, although may also include iterating on existing strands as needed.

  • Oversee your projects end-to-end – pre-, during and post-production - ensuring quality is maintained and the project brief is adhered to throughout

  • Source, contract and brief freelance cast, creatives and crew, and source venues and kit

  • Manage project budgets and schedules, and the overall production budget and schedule, keeping stakeholders informed at all stages

  • Run the set during rehearsal and filming

  • Work with freelance editors on the post-production process, including trailers, taking ownership of creative QA and coordinating feedback from the commissioning and development team

  • Run project evaluations that support the team to continue to learn and iterate

  • Work with the Producer to optimise processes and documentation

  • Line-manage one or more Producers, supporting them to successfully deliver their allocated projects and continue to develop their production experience

Qualifications

Skills and experience:

  • Proven experience as a Senior Producer, ideally within education

  • Line-management experience

  • Confidence managing complex budgets and schedules

  • Outstanding organisational skills, with the ability to spot risks early and act swiftly to mitigate them

  • Experience working collaboratively to turn a project brief/concept into a workable project, injecting creative thinking to optimise the value for the end users

  • Proven experience briefing and managing cast/contributors, creatives and crew, ensuring they have the space and support to produce their best work within the parameters of the project, and an existing freelance network

  • Sufficient technical knowledge to manage and QA a post-production process

  • A can-do attitude and the ability to drive your projects forward, bringing others along with you

  • Enthusiasm for all aspects of the production process
