Job Description

Are you an experienced software engineer ready to jump into an exciting role building something very new to Wolt’s core operations? Do you strive for high-quality code to production?

World-class customer service is one of the cornerstones of Wolt 💙 The quality of communication between our team and our customers and partners is essential as it determines how fast and accurately we can respond to inquiries and solve emerging problems. At Wolt, we currently serve over 9 Million monthly users, and it takes some serious work from our dedicated customer support teams in each of the 23 countries to ensure the satisfaction of those customers.

You would join a shiny new team with a remarkable opportunity to improve our product and have a say on technology choices and ways of working. This team is in a building phase and you would be one of the first joiners. You would be one of the critical persons for developing the support tools' future. The team will own the Wolt support funnel end-to-end: The team will take ownership of improving inbound support ticket handling with self-service options, automatization, and improving support associate ticket handling efficiency.

Qualifications

Building a brand new support chat tool is an exciting and challenging problem. We are looking for someone eager to create a scalable, highly available real-time messaging service for our 9M+ users. Challenges include real-time messaging, ensuring that messages are reliably stored and delivered, designing and building a conversations inbox with prioritization, attachment, and push notification systems. That’s just to start with.

The potential tech stack that we are considering is MongoDB for storing general metadata, distributed KKV databases like Cassandra for storing messaging archives, Node.js for iterating quickly and building a REST API, and Elixir for building a scalable real-time messaging system.

Experience with high traffic and high-performance projects and good knowledge of NoSQL databases like MongoDB, Cassandra, or similar would be highly valuable. Great if you consider yourself flexible enough to work both with Node.js and Elixir as well as other technologies depending on the problem we face.

It is also a bonus if you have experience working with real-time projects like chats, multiplayer games, signaling servers for voice/video communications, or breaking news providers so you can demonstrate how to build reliable clients and backends to serve our customers needs.

The compensation will be a negotiable combination of monthly pay and Wolt stock options. The latter makes it exceptionally easy to be excited about our company growing and doing well, as you'll own a piece of the pie.
