Job Description

We are the Health User Experience Client team at Twitter and our goal and priorities are to make Twitter safer for our customers and ensure the information shared is of the highest quality. This includes developing innovative solutions around misinformation, civic integrity, toxicity, abuse, spam, privacy and more. It also means helping people understand our rules and when we enforce them and why and improving the experience for when people report unhealthy content, and when they are suspended on the platform.

What You'll Do:

As part of the Android team you'll be responsible for building and improving some of our core Health User Experience products to Android. You will use your in-depth knowledge of all things Android to craft new Twitter features that are uniquely Android-based.  

We are looking for engineers to build out the product and infrastructure for what a healthy Twitter will look like. This includes new controls / tools to help people safeguard themselves and have more control over their Twitter Experience - especially when it gets toxic or abusive or polarizing. It includes improving the tools our agents use to enforce our site policies. 

Additionally, as deeply cross-functional, and building strong relationships across Product, User Research, Design, Data Science, and cross platform engineering teams will be critical to the success of this role. As Twitter continues to serve as one of the most important communication tools in the world, the need for focusing on the Health of the platform increases. Our work contributes to Twitter's mission to give everyone the power to create and share ideas and information instantly, without barriers. 

Who You Are:

You’re an experienced Android engineer looking to make Twitter for Android one of the best mobile experiences out there. You're someone who excels at user-centric product development and has a real passion for making beautiful, smooth, delightful mobile experiences. You have a strong understanding of Android design guidelines but you also know when it's okay to break the rules.

If this sounds like you, you probably have:

  • Top-notch Android programming skills

  • A strong eye towards design and usability

  • Technical depth that allows you to negotiate expectations around technical limitations, bring designs to life, and rapidly fix bugs

  • Experience working closely across a variety of teams including product management, design, and engineering

  • Advocacy of the principles of accessibility and the ability to build interfaces accessible to users with disabilities

  • Knowledge of core CS concepts such as: common data structures and algorithms, profiling/optimization

 

Qualifications

  • 4+ years experience developing mobile applications (on Android)
  • BS or MS in Computer Science or equivalent work experience

  • Knowledge of Kotlin
