Job Description

Reason for the job:
Under the authority of the Department Head, the Laboratory Technician performs preparation and analysis tasks in our computer system. He/she also participates in the maintenance of instruments and workstations. 

Description of responsibilities:

The Position will be mostly located in Québec City - the candidate must be able to work in Québec City.

  • Verify and prioritize the analyses to be performed such as ammonia nitrogen, cyanides, phenols, carbon, sulphides etc. in conjunction with the supervisor, in order to produce the results on time;
  • Perform extractions, digestions, vialing;
  • Carry out certain analyses according to established protocols;
  • Follow up on problem cases and out of specification results with the Technical Supervisor;
  • Enter data and results in the LIMS;
  • Perform equipment maintenance according to established procedures;
  • Perform various maintenance tasks in the laboratory (e.g. work areas)
  • Participate in the maintenance of ISO 17025 standards;
  • Respect quality assurance standards;
  • Be able to perform certain tasks in the pre-analytical process:
  •      -  Creation of computer queries; 
  •      -  Receipt of laboratory specimens;
  •      -  Proper identification of specimens destined for the laboratory;
  • Perform all other related tasks in connection with the position.

Qualifications

Requirements:

  • Laboratory Techniques/Biotechnology or any other related discipline;
  • Minimum of 1 year experience in a laboratory (asset: in an environmental laboratory).

Skills required:

  • Knowledge of parameter analysis in chemistry;
  • Organized, autonomous, analytical and synthetic mind;
  • Proactive;
  • Ability to work under pressure;
  • Spoken and written languages: French & functional English.

  • The candidate needs to be fully Bilingual French and English
  • The candidate must be able to work in Québec City (Hotel nights and meals will be paid by the company - The mileage will also be refunded to the employee).
  • Entitle to premium amount for working in evening and weekend
