Big Data Platform Engineer

Title: Big Data Platform Engineer 
Location: Newport Beach, CA - REMOTE 
Duration: 12+ Months

 Responsibilities:  
•  Develop data platform that enables users of varying skills to procure 3rd party vendor data at scale 
•  Coding, Code review and Test the Application software 
•  Guide the other junior engineers in the team on best practices of software development and Data Engineering best practices 
•  Collaborate with stakeholders and devise strategic capabilities to incorporate into platform 
•  Lead the reliability engineering efforts to ensure stability of services and infrastructure 
•  Co-own (with teams) monitoring and alert configuration to detect, triage, and resolve issues quickly 
•  Develop tools to enhance production triage and improve time-to-detect defects 
•  Participate in on-call rotation and take charge of escalation for outages and perform root cause analysis 
•  Automate the deploy and maintenance of core infrastructure and services. 
QUALIFICATIONS: 
•  6-8 years of experience in Software development, with at least 2 years in Data Engineering
•  Expertise in Big Data processing preferably Airflow and Kafka. 
•  Expert in Analytic Databases like Snowflake, Redshift or Synapse 
•  Expertise with Python and SQL 
•  Experience in API/Application development 
•  Experience with public cloud providers, such as AWS and Azure 
•  Experience with managing distributed teams while developing their technical skillsets 
•  Experience with deployment using Terraform or other infrastructure as code alternatives 
•  Experience with build and automation tools, such as GitLab and Jenkins
