Job Description

The Manager, Proposals will develop and lead our Proposals Team. The goal of proposals is to improve sales performance by reducing friction in the sales process and providing support to sales staff, marketing, operations, and select company executives. The Manager, Proposals will also oversee the design-development, pre- construction planning and proposal submissions for NRB Modular Solutions. Typical projects are multi-unit residential buildings such as affordable housing, seniors housing, long-term care and multi-story hotels. Average project value $15MM with annual department revenues of +/- $200MM.

This position is a key member of the Sales Team and reports to the VP Sales. Providing oversight and management of Proposal Operations Coordinators/Administrators, and/or Sales and Marketing Coordinators/Administrators the Manager, Proposals creates a collaborative environment providing coordination with internal departments including Design, Manufacturing, Transport, Project Execution, Estimating, Contract, Finance and Legal.

  • Responsible for the management, measurement, evaluation and reporting of sales;
  • Support the CRM administration and development to ensure focused data analysis, comprehensive reporting, KPI measurement and accurate forecasting;
  • Act as an advocate for the sales team by playing a key role in the sales and operations planning (S&OP) process providing key information and managing communications with operations and planning staff;
  • Leverage internal performance data, along with external market and competitor research, to help craft sales strategy and support salespeople on lead management, contract development and training development;
  • Manage the proposal development process to ensure complete and high-quality client facing documentation with a goal to continuous improvement;
  • Evaluate bid opportunities and identify bid strategies;
  • Develop and maintain a Proposal Charter;
  • Coordinate proposal deliverables, assign responsibilities, schedule and overall coordination of the Sales Operations Team;
  • Provide coordinated input to Design department in the development of the drawings, specifications and alternative construction methods;
  • Provide coordinated input to the Project Execution department on project schedule, scopes of work, constructability and value engineering;
  • Coordinate with corporate marketing in respect to sales initiatives;
  • Attend client meetings and/or site meetings as required;
  • Oversight and direction on organization and completion of the proposal documentation;
  • Provide consideration and input on project risk and coordinate cost reviews and internal approvals;
  • Develop Project Charter upon award of project and coordinate for successful transition to Project Execution department;
  • Develop and maintain a historical database of proposal templates, vendor databases, reference terms, etc;
  • Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

Qualifications

  • Business degree or equivalent combinations of technical training and/or related experience.
  • 7+ years’ experience in similar position, project management or marketing management.
  • PMP designation will be considered an asset.
  • Advanced management or technical training preferred.
  • Previous experience with bid documents.
  • Experience with construction, building specifications and blueprints will be considered an asset.
  • Previous experience with all phases of the proposal development cycle
  • Previous experience in modular construction an asset, but not required.
