Job Description

The Global Supplier Management team have a brilliant opportunity for a Service Delivery Manager to join our team of specialists. This role will involve working closely with both internal stakeholders and the typesetting and prepress suppliers used by Global Journals Production at T&F. We are looking for someone who is great at managing relationships, isn’t afraid of change and innovation, and is eager to be at the forefront of modernising the journal production process.

In this role, you will be critical to managing the performance of our suppliers and the relationships we have with them. Your work will be key to the success of strategic projects within the department, and to delivering our commercial goals. Quality management is important, and we follow Lean principles: continuous improvement, evidence-based solutions, and recommending automation and standardisation where possible. Most importantly, you will be helping to ensure Taylor & Francis offer best-in-class service to our customer base of researchers and their communities across the world. 

You will serve as an ambassador between our supplier partners and the wider business, and effective relationships with both are key to success. This role includes working closely with our suppliers to ensure they understand what they have to deliver, and that they have the tools and support needed to do so. You’ll be developing expertise in supplier processes, and then using it design improvements and to help internal stakeholders to resolve any problems that arise as quickly as possible. What we do and how we do it is constantly changing in Journals Production, and you will play a key part in projects designed to improve and transform how the department operates.   

What you’ll be doing:

  • Working with internal teams and suppliers to offer the best possible service to researchers publishing with Taylor & Francis 

  • Reviewing performance data to help manage and improve our existing suppliers’ output

  • Managing the administration of our supplier accounts, including processing payments, assessing risk, and resolving disputes

  • Supporting strategic procurement by assessing and developing existing suppliers’ offerings, and reviewing potential suppliers’ capabilities

  • Helping to develop and apply improvements to our production processes

  • Creating and sharing effective standard operating procedures

  • Supporting changes to our work with suppliers, including the transformation of our technical infrastructure and modernising our workflows

  • Building effective long-term relationships with colleagues across Production, Editorial, Customer Services and Marketing to ensure we understand and meet their requirements

  • Supporting the Service Delivery Lead and Head of Global Supplier Management in achieving departmental goals

  • Occasional overseas travel may be needed

Qualifications

Ideally, you will have experience of academic journals production and are able to demonstrate that you can work effectively with outsourcing partners in publishing or content transformation. You will have a proactive, solution-focused attitude, and will be able to identify and implement effective improvement measures when needed.

  • Exceptional organisation and prioritisation skills, and confidence in completing multiple tasks to deadlines and budget
