Purpose:
The Learning & Development Specialist / HR Generalist supports the day-to-day operations of the Human Resources department, with a focus on Learning & Development activities. This role takes the lead in identifying development needs across the organization, creating professional development programs, procuring and developing org-wide and management training, and supporting the growth of our talent. This is a Generalist position – provides additional support to HR projects and priorities including recruitment as needed.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Partners with Director of HR on developing learning & development strategy and executing programs to support the professional growth of our talent
Identifies gaps in performance at all levels and proposes approaches, curriculum, training materials, tools and evaluation as appropriate
Creates and executes org-wide professional development program
Assists in talent reviews, improving our performance management process, as well as developing succession programs
Develops and trains managers and employees on creating Individual Development Plans
Researches and brings back best practices in learning & development including but not limited to needs assessment, technology and tools
Is a resource to LG’s Diversity, Equity & Inclusion training and education initiatives
Provides guidance to managers during performance management process, reviews and provides feedback on documents and shares best practices
Partners with employees and managers during the Employee Relations process related to workplace investigations, and provides guidance to managers on employee issues
Actively participates in measuring employee satisfaction and engagement, and helps to develop retention strategies
Participates in other HR initiatives including full-cycle recruitment as needed
Develops procedures related to HR processes, ensuring smoothness of execution
May be required to perform other duties as assigned
Education & Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree required; Master’s degree in human resources, organizational development, a clinical discipline, or related field, preferred
Minimum 3 years in Human Resources, Organizational Development, Training & Development or related field required
Must have experience in creating and facilitating learning and development programs using adult learning theories and experiential learning concepts with diverse groups
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Excellent communication skills both verbally and in writing; ability to present with credibility and confidence in front of groups
Ability to be flexible in a rapidly changing environment
High level of professional maturity and ability to be respectful, confidential and appropriate when handling HR-related matters
Strong computer skills including strong proficiency in working within a HRIS, reporting, Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, & Outlook
Strong organization skills and the ability to prioritize, stay focused and see projects through
Proven ability to effectively facilitate groups and communicate with a diverse group of individuals at all levels of the organization
Work Environment & Physical Demands:
May either work from the Princeton, NJ office or may work from home and is expected to maintain a safe, productive work environment with secure internet access. Must be able to operate a computer with or without a reasonable accommodation.
Travel:
Traveling to Princeton, NJ office may be required on occasion for meetings up to 1x / quarter (dependent on COVID restrictions)
