Job Description

ADGA has an immediate contract for a Senior IT Security Design Specialist.  Within this role you will be responsible for the following tasks in both cloud and on-premise environments:

  • Review, analyze, and/or apply market and technology trends to apply them within architecture roadmaps and solution designs. (examples: web services security, incident management, identity management);
  • Review, analyze, and/or apply best practices and standards related to the concept of network zoning and defence in-depth principles;
  • Review, analyze, and/or apply IT Security protocols at all layers of the Open Systems Interconnection (OSI) and Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) stacks;
  • Analyze IT Security statistics, tools and techniques;
  • Analyze security data and provide advisories and reports;
  • Prepare technical reports such as requirement analysis, options analysis, technical architecture documents, mathematical risk modeling;
  • Brief senior managers;
  • Provide support to security architecture design and engineering;
  • Conduct data security designation/classification studies;
  • Prepare tailored IT Security alerts and advisories from open and closed sources;
  • Complete tasks directly supporting the departmental IT Security and Cyber Protection Program;
  • Develop and deliver training material relevant to the resource category.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of professional experience working as an IT Security Design Specialist or related experience
  • 10+ years of experience completing tasks identical or similar in nature to the job description
  • Professional working experience in reviewing, analyzing, and/or applying Architectural methods, frameworks, and models such as TOGAF, US government FEAP, Canadian government BTEP and GSRM, Zachman, UMM;
  • Professional working experience in reviewing, analyzing, and/or applying a broad range of security technologies including multiple types of systems and application architectures, and multiple hardware and software platforms such as: Directory Standards such as X.400, X.500, and SMTP; Operating Systems such as MS, Unix, Linux, and Novell; Networking Protocols (e.g., HTTP, FTP, Telnet); Network routers, multiplexers and switches; and Domain Name Services (DNS) and Network Time Protocols (NTP);
  • Professional working experience in reviewing, analyzing, and/or applying Secure IT architectures, standards, communications, and security protocols such as IPSec, SSL, SSH, S-MIME, HTTPS;
  • Professional working experience in reviewing, analyzing, and/or applying IT Security protocols at all layers of the Open Systems Interconnection (OSI) and Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) stacks;

Additional Information

  • Client is based in Ottawa but this role can be fully remote from across Canada 
  • Must currently hold a Government of Canada clearance at the level of Secret
  • Contract is full-time starting immediately and runs until  March 31st 2022
