Job Description

The Director of Quantitative Research (DQR) will be an integral member of APIAbroad’s newly created Research Foundation, reporting directly to the Senior Vice President for Research. The DQR will play a lead role in supporting the collection, analysis and reporting of prospective and alumni learner data in support of the APIAbroad Research Foundation. Additionally, the DQR will contribute strategic and operational insights to the development of the Foundation’s team, including additional analysts.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Primary responsibilities include:

  • As an integral member of the APIAbroad Foundation team, conceptualize, design, and produce nationally representative surveys that measure prospective and alumni learner preferences.
  • Support an iterative approach to data collection, including the interaction between quantitative and qualitative data collection and analysis.
  • Contribute to the development of best-in-class processes for data collection and management, including protocols for sampling, weighting, cleaning, and reporting.
  • Direct the development and distribution of nationally representative surveys of prospective and alumni learners, including drafting, programming, and monitoring all components of survey-based data collection.
  • Implement statistical modeling and analyses of survey data, including but not limited to latent class analysis and regression models.
  • Collaborate with research team members and strategic stakeholders on the development of nationally distributed reports, webinars, conferences, and related thought-leadership opportunities.

QUALIFICATIONS KEY SUCCESS FACTORS

  • Strong understanding of and experience with SAS, SPSS, STATA, R, or other statistical software packages.
  • Strong understanding of and experience with Q, Qualtrics, Alteryx, Power BI, or similar data management toolsets.
  • Familiarity with postsecondary higher education data sources, including IPEDS, IES, NCES, and the College Scorecard is a plus.
  • Experience working with education-related data sources at the local, state, or national level, including the US Census Survey of Consumer Expectations. 
  • Proven ability to synthesize and present complex information and issues in a clear and concise format, targeted to the needs of the audience.
  • Proven ability to manage large data sets, including demographic segmentations.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong leadership skills required with direct management experience.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Demonstrated standards of accuracy and precision; highly organized.
  • Pro-active work ethic and ability to perform with minimal supervision.

KEY EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.S./B.A.) in related field.
  • 5-7 years of prior work experience in quantitative research, including survey design and administration.

DISTINGUISHING EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATIONS

  • Master’s Degree preferred but not required
