Company Description

This role primarily edits medico-legal reports that have been returned from doctors and corrects any grammatical, typographical or compositional errors. Your aim is to maintain the highest quality reports in terms of factual veracity, accuracy of spelling and grammar, presentation and adherence to relevant legal requirements and formatting of documents in line with the Medilaw style guide.

Job Description

Duties and Responsibilities:

 

  • Proofread and edit medical reports to ensure high quality publications.
  • Verify the accuracy of content – dates, names, places and events in a report against information in the system.
  • Formatting of report templates to verify compliance to specifications.
  • Liaise with the report author regarding queries to determine if report is fit for purpose and suitable for release.
  • Email or upload all reports to clients as requested.
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of Medilaw documentation, policies and procedures for Quality Assurance.
  • Edit, update and maintain all Medilaw report templates.
  • Edit, update and maintain all Medilaw Specialist CV’s.

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience:

  • Be highly literate with superior knowledge of grammar, punctuation and vocabulary. 
  • Demonstrate an understanding of medico-legal implications and risk management responsibilities ensuring compliance with local, state and federal rules and regulations.
  • Understand the importance of confidentiality and discretion at all times.
  • Ability to read, analyse and interpret common medical and legal terminology.
  • Prior editing or technical writing experience.
  • Effectively communicate QA concerns / questions with all stakeholders.
  • Strong attention to detail and initiative to work independently and within a team to prioritise workflow.
  • Sound knowledge of multiple software applications (e.g. Word, PDF editing and Publisher).
