Job Description

The User Experience team at Ungerboeck is looking for a versatile accessibility professional who is passionate about creating a great experience for all users. Your primary role as a UX Accessibility Specialist would be testing and working toward more accessible experiences, but you’ll also get a chance to jump into the design process when the team needs an extra hand.

  • Serve as an internal subject matter expert to help support accessibility efforts 
  • Champion the needs and benefits of accessibility internally 
  • Plan for, conduct, and report results of accessibility testing 
  • Coordinate with the UX and Product teams to address accessibility defects and areas of improvement 
  • Stay current on updates to accessibility guidelines 
  • Cross-train within the UX team to assist with projects as needed (visual designs, wireframes, copywriting, research, etc.) 

Qualifications

  • 2+ years accessibility testing experience. 
  • Solid knowledge of WCAG 2.1 AA and Section 508 standards as it applies to desktop and mobile web, and the ability to test against those standards 
  • Experience with both manual testing and using tools such as WAVE, aXe, Accessibility Insights, and contrast checkers 
  • Expertise with assistive technology, particularly with common screen readers 
  • Working knowledge of HTML and CSS as it applies to accessibility, including semantics, best practices, and appropriate use of WAI-ARIA 
  • Experience providing guidance to development on how to resolve accessibility defects 

What makes you a great fit?

  • Familiarity with international accessibility laws and standards 
  • Experience writing VPAT documentation 
  • Experience leading training sessions or presentations on accessibility 
  • Certified IAAP Web Accessibility Specialist (WAS) or Certified Professional in Accessibility Core Competencies (CPACC) 
  • Knowledge of UX methodology and practices 
  • Visual/graphic design, wireframing, copywriting skills 
  • Experience conducting usability studies 
  • Experience designing for or testing an enterprise platform 
  • IAAP Web Accessibility Specialist (WAS) or Certified Professional in Accessibility Core Competencies (CPACC)
