Job Description

Ungerboeck Software is looking to hire the best Visual Designer for  our St. Louis team!  We are looking for proven experience designing for the web and print- heavy emphasis on web design 

Responsibilities

  • Take complex concepts and bring them to life simply and beautifully.
  • Create graphic assets and contribute to visual design system in rapid iterations.
  • Define the next generation of customer experience by contributing to new methodologies and sharing best practices.
  • Explore the role of brand and how to use it to differentiate customer experiences.
  • Execute top quality and cutting-edge visual design work including branding icons, logos, identification marks, website designs, product experiences, & presentations.
  • Balance all design aspects of a project from start to finish. Define the visual designs, ideate, sketch, to deliver a visual design system to key stakeholders.
  • Collaborate and work closely with designers, dev teams, and strategists to create designs that clearly communicate the client's brand and products.
  • Accountable for ensuring work across their team is on brand and of the highest quality.
  • Receive feedback from all levels of the organization and balance great design with meeting short deadlines.
  • Represent the creative team in cross-functional teams and meetings as the visual design expert.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferably in one of: Human Computer Interaction, Graphic Design, Visual Design, Industrial Design, Psychology (User Research), Computer Science or Engineering.  
  • 1+ years professional experience designing experiences and user interfaces for web-based desktop and mobile products.  
  • Working experience using HTML/CSS, SASS, Javascript, and modern presentation frameworks, such as Bootstrap, Durandal, Knockout, Angular, etc. 
  • An excellent portfolio showcasing frictionless gorgeous visual designs for a range of devices and platforms with user experiences in mind.  
  • Ability to juggle multiple projects.

  • Ability to quickly iterate and communicate complex design concepts and ideas via sketches, documents, presentations, comps, and prototypes.  
  • Self-starter and self-motivated, able to work independently, and can manage multiple projects under minimal supervision.  
  • Wholeheartedly believe in a user-centric design process and are willing to Fight for the Users (Tron-style!) 
  • Ego-free and is eager to give and receive candid and constructive feedback.  
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, and ability to present ideas and concepts to individuals and large groups.  
  • Constantly looking to hone your design instinct through user feedback through hands-on usability testing.
  • Ability to interact with cross-functional teams such as development and product management.
  • Comfortability with presenting and explaining ideas to internal teams
  • Ask questions – even stupid ones
  • Ability to go with the flow – because sometimes things don’t go as planned.
  • Awareness of capabilities and limitations of the web – and when to push them.
  • Experience with responsive web design.
  • Adobe Creative Suite, XD.
  • Bonus: Has worked on Design systems.
