Our database engineering team is responsible for data availability, data quality and data safety in the process of empowering school systems across the country to take data-driven action. As a member of this team, you'll improve data reliability, database systems’ observability, optimize performance and enforce data security, integrity controls.
In this role, you will:
Maintain core database infrastructure pieces, implement automated approaches for ongoing maintenance and proper capacity management
Ensure hardware configurations, clustering, replication and currency of database versions are optimal and promote stability
Diagnose and troubleshoot database issues across all levels of the stack including configuration, health monitoring, backups and availability, data security, and performance
Proactively identify opportunities to improve data queries and pursue modern and secure practices
Execute database activities in support of product upgrades to ensure customers can take advantage of the latest product releases
Participate in on-call rotation, react to monitoring alerts and take corrective action
Liaise with peer groups like Development, DevOps, QA teams to ensure issues are communicated and resolved efficiently
For this role, you must have:
Proven, demonstrable interest in industry leading relational and non-relational databases (MongoDB, Redis, PostgreSQL, SQL Server) and desire to learn
Knowledge of data definition language, data manipulation techniques, intermediate programming skills (Python, Bash, PowerShell, PL/SQL)
Proven, demonstrable interest in technologies the database is hosted on (servers, storage systems, virtualization, network concepts) and operating system (Linux, Windows)
A curious, self-starter with good communication skills and a knack for automating processes.
Bonus points for:
Proven, demonstrable interest in virtualization, container and cloud database technologies (AWS, RDS)
Experience in database administration, tuning and application troubleshooting
Great analytic skills, able to independently troubleshoot issues

Salary Range - $54,500 - $89,925 This range is based on national market data and may vary by location.
