Job Overview:
The Infrastructure and Operations (I&O) Solutions Consultant plays a critical role in ensuring that optimal solutions are delivered from the I&O organization for projects, initiatives and operations. The successful candidate will provide leadership, facilitation, analysis and design tasks to assess and provide solutions to meet project/initiative requirements within the strategic and technical direction of I&O. The Solutions Consultant also plans and manages implementation and integration of new technologies, solves highly technical and complex problems on multiple projects, and provides consultative support to internal staff.
Primary Responsibilities:
Partner with the functional groups within the IT organization to communicate and clarify business needs, contribute to development of long-range system plans, and ensure products and services are aligned with business needs. Conduct business process analyses, needs assessments, and preliminary cost versus benefit measurements; broker other IT services; and communicate trends and requirements to and from customers and IT.
Develop and document long-term technical strategies to support and enable current and projected business initiatives across technical towers.
Based on knowledge of assigned customers’ businesses, responsible for proactively finding opportunities to apply technologies to business processes. Inform and advise customers on information system technologies’ functionality, costs, benefits, and implementation requirements, and provide services such as facilitating priority setting and brokering contracts on behalf of customers.
Develop and maintain credibility and effective working relations with both customer management and IT personnel in a way that demonstrates an understanding of business problems, as well as IT strategies, issues, and priorities.
Support one or more key business functions. Issues and interactions within these processes tend to be highly complex and of significant strategic importance. Be responsible for the overall implementation and execution of project and performance criteria; maintain full knowledge of all phases of business-specific technology implementations.
Broker services within the IT community on behalf of customers; coordinate multi-system solutions to clarify interdependencies so that systems appear seamless to customers.
Works with cross-functional teams and other service providers to ensure steady state support of technology/systems is well-documented and in place for successful ongoing delivery of the system/service.
Prioritize and manage multiple projects. Assign specific tasks and lead project (plan, delegate, follow through). Determine resources, actions and timelines for project. Make recommendations to terminate a project due to feasibility issues.
Instructs, directs, and reviews the work of other staff members.
Complete understanding and wide application of technical principle, theories, and concepts in the field. General knowledge of other related subject areas.
Develop technical solutions to complex problems which require the regular use of ingenuity and creativity.
Guide the successful completion of major programs and may function in a project leadership role.
Represent the organization as the prime technical contact on contracts and projects. Interact with senior external personnel on significant technical matters often requiring coordination between organizations.Responsible for project budget, budget concerns, driving growth and product development, yield and product quality improvements, driving cost reduction, capacity increases and ELS improvements.
Work is performed without appreciable direction. Exercise considerable latitude in determining technical objectives of assignment. Completed work is reviewed from a relatively long- term perspective, for desired results.
Skills and Credentials (Minimum Qualifications):
Bachelor’s degree preferably in Computer Science, Engineering or related fields. Master’s degree preferred.
8+ years relevant experience with 3+ years preferably working in a global environment.
Subject matter expertise and/or consultation and project management skills.
Solid technical knowledge and skilled in expressing complex technical concepts in terms that are understandable to the business.
Knowledge of the assigned business area’s products and processes; experience in the strategic use of technology in managing and growing a business.
Very good written communications skills, including technical writing.
Proficient analytical and conceptual skills; a demonstrated track record in new concept development for a variety of projects and complex technical plans.
Previous experience in business process re-engineering or process improvement is desirable, involving broad-based information systems and utilizing tools and techniques to effect business change.
Skilled in process documentation and improvement.
Skilled in effectively collaborating with cross-functional groups to define and executive overall requirements.
