Aerial Service Engineer

We are looking for an Aerial Service Engineer to join our US Service Team. Nearmap is currently providing a virtual model of the real world – at a scale and detail that hasn’t been done before.  We develop our own patented camera systems which are flown in twin engine airplanes to capture our North American aerial imagery program.  The US Service Team take a regional lead in installing and maintaining all capture systems in the US region.  The ideal candidate has a strong mechanical and electrical aptitude with a history of installing and troubleshooting electromechanical systems along with a keen eye for detail, excellent communication skills, and is a cross-functional team player ready to tackle the many challenges that come in an operations environment.

What we do
We provide easy, instant access to high-resolution aerial imagery, city-scale 3D content, AI datasets and integrated geospatial tools, with wide-scale coverage across the USA, Canada, Australia and New Zealand.  At the core of it, we’re a location content company, a visual analytics company, and a software as a service company.  Innovation is weaved into our DNA.  A typical day for you may look like this…

• Collaborate with our global team on escalated technical issues, scheduling, and inventory levels
• Update asset tracking with the movements of components going in and out of the field.
• Communication with colleagues, sometimes outside of standard office hours.
• Travel locally or interstate to install or troubleshoot our camera systems.
• Ship and receive equipment through domestic and international carriers.
• Work at our in-house lab, to evaluate, repair and test new and old equipment before it is sent out for use in the field.
• Provide technical support to our Nearmap camera systems operators

• Mechanical/electronic expertise installing and troubleshooting systems.
• Comfortable providing support both in person and remotely to individuals in the field.
• Strong analytical, oral/written communication, problem solving, research, and time management skills.
• Basic IT experience. Comfortable working with, troubleshooting and maintaining computers.
• Detail oriented and able to ensure documentation and records are kept up to date.
• Willing to work flexible hours and travel frequently, at times on short notice.
• Experience around aviation is a plus.
