In 2009, we created Robots & Pencils with the then-contrarian view that mobile would be more transformative than the Internet. Turns out we were right.
Today, our thinking is rooted in the belief that, in the age of unprecedented technology acceleration, maintaining a competitive advantage requires new strategies and a focus on innovation.

You are someone who prefers to communicate through code. You love to create, drive change and lead. In fact, you’re the first to rattle off which WWDC video would help your coworker. You have strong knowledge of language best practices, when it’s reasonable to swizzle methods, generics and protocol oriented programming, and the advantages and tradeoffs between closure/blocks and delegates. You’re also diligent about meeting allocated budgets and can work within time constraints, but you will never sacrifice quality. On top of this, you are comfortable leading cross-functional teams and can share insights and expectations with stakeholders, Clients, team members, and various levels of management.
Author and maintain relevant documentation for developers, Clients, and users to encourage innovation.
Develop and refine prototypes to confirm requirements.
Program according to project plans (versions, sprints) while also seeking innovative solutions.
Drive release and post-release activities, such as support, versioning, and maintenance.
Collaborate with our pencils (designers) to create interfaces that conform to Apple’s Human Interface Guidelines.
Peer review other team members’ code, and learn and adapt from peer review of your own code. You leverage your own knowledge to teach and mentor other team members.
8+ years of delivering software with preference given to those who have a degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent
Strong knowledge with native iOS and/or Mac development using Xcode, Swift, and Objective C
Strong knowledge with a distributed Version Control System
Experience with testing and behavior driven development
