Job Description
As an engineering manager on the Web Performance team within our Product Infrastructure organization, you will execute on the strategy and daily operations of multiple Web Performance projects, including Etsy’s performance data pipeline and visualizations.
You will partner cross-functionally with other infrastructure and product teams to identify and act on opportunistic performance enhancements and to drive adoption of new metrics. You will work with the team to establish a vision and roadmap that helps other teams understand and correlate performance impact with their work.
Among other tasks, the daily operations of various Web Performance projects includes prioritizing engineering work, defining sprints, and conducting operations meetings and aligning your team’s work to the group vision.
Through this role, you will be a member of the Product Infrastructure leadership team.
Qualifications
About You
- 4+ years of work experience as an engineering manager supervising senior engineers
- 2+ years working in the web performance space
- Experience managing a platform team and cross-functional outreach across engineering teams
- Experience hiring and developing engineers under your guidance
- Experience gathering feedback from customers to inform engineering prioritization
Bonus Points
- In-depth understanding of front-end engineering and web performance challenges
- Understanding of impact of web performance on user experience and ability to present a business case for performance
- Familiarity with Core Web Vitals and other web performance metrics and their impact on SEO
- Experience with Synthetic and Real User Measurement technologies and web performance analytics
