We are seeking a driven and innovative product manager to join our growing team and help evolve our product management function to meet various requirements and needs. In this role, you will work on a variety of elements related to the product, help develop our product management methodology and will play a key part in making sure that end results are designed and delivered according to the relevant business requirements. You will report to the CEO and take over product management from the founders. This is a builder role where self-starting and cross functional communication skills are a must to be successful. 

The Product Manager’s responsibilities include evolving the company’s product management methodology, gathering requirements and functional specifications from all stakeholders, assessing current platform functionality for user experience improvements, and being the gap between engineering and operations teams.  

To be successful as a Product Manager, you should be able to address the creative nature of development while providing the specificity and documentation that the operations team require.  Excellence in this role would be to simply explain complex problems to stakeholders within their context. This role will be the first product manager, so development of key processes, documentation standards, and other standard product management elements would fall to this role. We are looking for someone with extensive previous experience in developing the process as well as executing the role. 

Job Description

In this position you will have the following responsibilities:

• Translate operation/client/other stakeholder requirements to what engineering needs to develop. Oversee the engineering work and sign off on completion. Translate and document the product to operations and marketing teams. 

• Work with customers, internal operations, marketing and engineering teams to design and develop solutions to challenging problems, leading initiatives and providing guidance to technical and non technical stakeholders.

• You will be challenged to learn new things, use new technology, understand complex relationships with back office systems, and participate in the shaping of solution delivery.

• Provide thought leadership in systems engineering methods and bring your passion for technology to motivate and inspire on a day to day basis.

• Take calculated risks, learn from success or failure, and apply that to the next problem in the pipeline.

• Carefully and thoroughly document designs using industry standard practices.

• Collaborate across the organization to establish unified and intelligent designs, robust interactions, and minimal code footprint required to deliver features.

• Do all this in a way that respects teamwork, diversity of opinion, and which maintains blockit’s core values.

• Scrutinize project constraints to analyze alternatives, mitigate risks, and conduct process re-engineering as necessary.

• Participate in resolving technical problems as they arise.

Qualifications:

Required qualifications for this position include:

• Robust communication skills to stakeholders with different skills and perspectives. 

• Strong organizational and influencing skills.

• 7+ years experience operating in product management

• 3+ years designing/leading product management functions

• Knowledge in aspects of documentation, wireframing and presentation

Preferred qualifications for this position include:

• Experience working with SaaS platforms that require integrations with 3rd party platforms

• Have worked in a startup environment on a team with <40 people

• Have taken over product management from a founder(s) and developed it into a team 

• Can operate with little day to day direction - can take a vision and build from there.
