Software Engineering Delivery Manager

We are looking for a Software Engineering Delivery Manager, to work collaboratively as part of a growing in-house team, wanting to join us as we scale and deliver ever more sophisticated tech on live B2B contracts and grow our ecosystem

As a growing start-up at a crucial stage, you will be working with existing in house engineering and remote/distributed developers. This role presents an opportunity to manage the technical roadmap, deliver development process improvements, and ensure the Engineering team delivers high quality, well organised code, through leading by example and being directly involved in software development. We are looking for an enthusiastic, detail-oriented problem solver with a start-up mentality and an appreciation of the entire product development process.

From architecture & environment setup, to technical definition & development team task refinement, you should be an all rounder, able to lead technical aspects of delivery, communicate clearly to external stakeholders, and robustly estimate timelines and required team’s capabilities. As someone who has worked as a Full Stack Engineer previously, you should expect to remain hands-on with development, and be able to contribute to the codebase as part of a small close-knit team, bringing a proactive and adaptive mindset while championing best development practices and software quality.

On a day-to-day basis this entails:

• Working with our product owners in order to support the estimation, refinement and delivery of requirements, to be delivered by in house and remote developers

• Managing your own development activities alongside oversight across the development team as we grow 

• Taking responsibility for planning, execution and success of longer term technical projects, in collaboration with our head of product

• Responsible for overall planning, execution and success of technical elements in sprints with the team, leading the engineering team in decomposing functional into easy to consume technical requirements

• Lead thinking on software architectures and stack selection

• Interfacing with external integration teams at auto makers and supply chain partners

• Working with our Senior Engineers in implementing a repeatable and scalable DevOps process, managing the implementation of and education around testing framework

• End-to-end design and delivery of API’s for a variety of external Clients as well as a variety of internal micro services

• Identifying areas to improve the efficiency and performance of our systems - to solve in designing elegant and simple with a lean & agile mindset

• Hiring technical talent and championing engineering best practices

• Being a team player, who is comfortable explaining development decisions, estimating development efforts and contributing to all aspects of development

Prerequisites for the candidate are listed below:

• Educated to degree level or equivalent in Computer Science

• Experience launching products into production in a B2B setting

• LAMP full stack development. With proven ability to build own projects and deliver quality code quickly and efficiently

• Strong Back End and Architecture proficiency in PHP, with Laravel experience required.

• Front end development experience, with excellent Javascript aptitude

• Confidence in deploying production applications using AWS Stack, with experience with containerisation preferred

• Enthusiasm for CI/CD, including implementing test automation frameworks

• Experience writing comprehensive Tech Documentation, managing remote/distributed development efforts and keeping track of planning & progress to build consistent and predictable team delivery plans

• Excellent visual communication skills

Bonus points

• Experience with responsive cross platform development, experience in Vue preferred.

• Previous roles in DevOps alongside Software Engineering

• Experience with managing training and growth of team members

• Data Analytics experience and experience using BI frameworks

• Experience working on customer services tools, business process management software

• Experience with the automotive industry / an interest in Connected Car technology!
