Job Description

We are looking for rockstar Certified Tumor Registrar (CTR) in the healthcare space, preferably who can carry out the responsibilities of performing review from the medical record, and complete data abstraction onto the database.  The data abstraction must meet requirements of the Commission on Cancer (CoC) to support the accreditation program and the State Cancer Registry  as required by state law.. 

The core aspect of this role is the annotation of clinical notes & other free-text documents - in order to make it easier for software, analytics & data science teams to train natural language, processing models.

Key responsibilities:
•    Identifies and analyzes the history, diagnosis, treatment, disease status and survival data of cancer patients treated in the organization.
•    Prepares and electronically submits required reporting information to the state cancer database.
•    Collects data for patient care evaluations, protocol studies and conducting audits.
•    Complies with all reporting requests and requirements.
•    Abstracts accurately all required cancer related information into the electronic tumor registry system. Coordinates and maintains the long-term follow up process of data collection and input for all tumor registry patients.
•    Determine case re-portability, provide support in case finding and follow ups, and work with team members to resolve any abstraction discrepancies
•    Perform concurrent data collection for Rapid Cancer Reporting System (RCRS)
•    Participate in monthly SEER Educate training
•    Generate suspense reports
•    Provide inputs to the Cancer Registry departmental reference materials
•     Performs other duties as assigned.
•    Maintain CTR certification and required CEs

Qualifications

Qualifications:
•    Bachelor's Degree in biology or physiology related field
•    Certified Tumor Registrar (CTR)
•    2+ years of experience working in Cancer Registry
•    Must have in depth knowledge and understanding of NAACCR data items, Solid Tumor Rules, AJCC staging guidelines, and SEER rules and standards.
•    Ability to utilize cancer registry resources such as CAForum and SEER Inquiries
•    Ability to understand, analyze, and interpret medical and treatment information
•    Excellent time management, attention to details, and organizational skills
•    Critical and analytical thinking
•    Proficient in Microsoft office applications
•    Strong written and verbal communication skills
•    Strong dedication to team success
•    Capable of working and making decisions independently
•    Experience working in hospital Cancer Registry setting is a plus
•    Knowledge of annotation database is preferred 
•    Experience with electronic medical record system
•    A commitment for 30-40 hours/week is required
•    Good communication skills
