The Business Operations Analyst supports engagements with the largest high-growth, high-volume Shopify Plus merchants on short to medium term project deliveries. These project deliveries are focused on achieving a defined list of desired outcomes for a Merchant, but are primarily related to executing on showcase project opportunities for innovative Merchants pushing the boundaries of commerce on our platform. Projects will be performed by a cross-functional team incorporating Partner resources where necessary.
As the Business Operations Analysis, you will support the full lifecycle of a project through identification to feedback cycles and new opportunities. Projects offer Shopify a terrific opportunity to extract learnings, dog food our platform and showcase the power of Shopify in collaboration with the most complex and innovative merchants. The role requires an individual who is comfortable in engaging with cross-functional teams to identify and prioritize the most important opportunities for Shopify and our Merchants, while also supporting delivery teams as we initiate, develop and deploy solutions.
Responsibilities:
Supporting projects throughout their lifecycle, from identification and scoping, to deployment and retro activities
Working closely with Technical Services teams to identify new project opportunities
Crafting business cases and maintaining a backlog of project opportunities for prioritization, including ongoing communication and alignment with service lines on required project staffing
Financial modeling to determine the potential return on investment in supporting a given opportunity
Supporting Project Managers in initiation of projects by engaging necessary stakeholders, including Sales and Legal teams, to coordinate required processes and documentation are in place
Coordinating and distributing internal and external client feedback surveys, as well as consolidating and providing to Project Managers and other stakeholders
Contribute to the ongoing development and improvement of tools, processes and relationships required to effectively deliver a project
Building relationships at multiple levels within our organization to fully understand our priorities and opportunities for collaboration
Opportunistically grow the project delivery intake funnel to address unmet needs; influenced through internal context via project engagements, platform growth and change, and merchant segment changes
Supporting, influencing, engaging in and creating content for community events preparation
Experience engaging with technical and non-technical internal stakeholders to capture requirements and desired outcomes, while managing expectations and putting Shopify first
Experience in writing business cases, identifying the opportunities for Shopify Project Delivery to engage on in order to provide the most value to Shopify and the Merchant
Exceptional writing and presentation skills to communicate business case, project benefits and feedback for multiple audiences and all levels of leadership
Experience with RFP processes, including writing and sourcing material and content or leading response teams is an asset
Ability to manage budgets when leveraging Partner resources, and/or resource allocation of internal teams
Experienced in the software development lifecycle, Agile and/or Scrum methodologies are assets
Ability to manage multiple internal projects simultaneously while thriving on change and allowing for changing priorities
Comfortable building relationships with various individuals within the organization in order to help best identify opportunities and make recommendations on priority
