Product Owner for one or more components of NEC SWS’s Pathways platform.

Working with the Pathways Product Manager as part of the NEC SWS  Public safety portfolio team, the product owner will help define the roadmap and strategy for the Pathways components and capabilities that they are responsible for.  

A proven ability to communicate clearly and effectively non-technically with clients at both operational and senior levels, help define and refine functionality with business analysts; and engage at a technical level to internal development and implementation teams.

The Product Owner will be expected to contribute to bids and support pre-sales demonstrations and presentations relating to NEC SWS products and services.  The ability to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing, in clear and precise English, is therefore required.

Experience and knowledge of the UK Public Sector, and Criminal Justice area in particular, is desired but not essential.

Main responsibilities:

• Bringing subject matter expertise for a specific product or domain or module

• Collaborate with the Product Manager to understand product requirements and define the ‘what’ during product development

• Be a passionate advocate of the product vision and act as the voice of the customer throughout the development cycle

• Work with the Engineering team to help define and elaborate epics and user stories

• Manage prioritisation of the product backlog to be continually aligned to business value

• Ensuring all new features, Improvements and Defects have appropriate BDD scenarios to define done.

• Work closely with the development team to ensure features are delivered to requirements

• Ensure the product backlog is visible to stakeholders to ensure transparency

• Accept completed epics and stories according to the Definition of Done

• Exchange ideas with product owners within the organization

Skills and Experience : 

•  Extensive experience of working within software development.
•  Experience of and commitment to agile ways of working

• Experience of highlighting over complicated systems and processes and providing solutions with a ‘painless’ user interface.

• Ability to motivate and encourage positive behaviours.

• Ability to prioritise based on value and conflicting customer requirements
• The ability to learn and understand technical concepts and requirements quickly 

• Collaborative approach, must be able to build good working relationship. 

• A methodical and logical approach to problem solving.

• Ability to communicate at all levels.

• Ability to direct and motivate the product development team / Scrum team.

Training and certification as a professional scrum product owner or as a certified scrum product owner.
