Job Description

Shopify has redefined commerce. We’ve raised the standard for how businesses of all sizes operate, market, and sell their products and services. With over 1,000,000 merchants in more than 175 different countries, we continue to grow while looking for innovative ways to impact the market.

As an Experimentation and Analysis - Performance Marketing Insights Lead, you’ll use your combination of performance marketing expertise, analytical capability, and communication skills to understand performance marketing channels, extract insights, and provide recommendations to the team. You’ll work across several teams in the Growth, Data Science and Engineering teams.

We care about growing creative, collaborative people, and strong, capable teams. Your peers in Shopify's Growth Org have diverse backgrounds, skill sets, and experiences but share an established track record of driving significant business growth.

The Experimentation & Analysis - Performance Marketing Insights Lead will be responsible for looking deeply at our paid channels performance to understand where there are opportunities for optimization and for growth. Your success will hinge on blending a high proficiency of accessing and manipulating data with deep performance marketing expertise and a strong ability to turn data into strategic insights and recommendations.

You'll be doing things like:

  • Collaborate with paid channel owners in Growth to help them understand their performance and identify opportunities to explore and to optimize.

  • Deep dive on performance marketing funnels and communicating those findings to various audiences—from individual contributors to senior leaders

  • Work as part of a multidisciplinary team on answering questions using data

  • Use your analytical skills to find new opportunities the company should be exploring

  • Influence the roadmap of other teams and help craft the future direction of the company

Qualifications

  • Strong experience working in performance marketing channels, such as AdWords, Facebook, YouTube, etc. You need to have deep domain expertise and understand the nuances of how each channel operates.

  • Strong experience with analytics tools such as Excel, Mode, Tableau, Amplitude, and Google Analytics

  • Strong communication skills including data visualizing and the ability to translate complex data concepts into actionable insights

  • Experience with SQL. You may not be able to write complex queries from scratch, but you have a high-level understanding of databases and how to query them.

  • Experience communicating with senior leadership teams

  • Experience with basic statistics and mathematical modelling concepts such as sample estimation, hypothesis testing, regression analysis, and median absolute deviation

  • Experience working with different stakeholders across multiple disciplines

Bonus Points:

  • Experience working in SaaS or other technology companies. It’s useful to understand our industry and business model.

  • Experience with Ads Data Hub or Campaign Manager 360

  • Strong project management and prioritization skills with an approach that defaults to action. You can drive good decisions quickly and help other teams do the same.
