    Job Description

    YouGov America Inc. seeks an especially experienced market research professional with specific expertise and interest in the gaming, esports, and interactive entertainment sector. As a Director in this sector you will utilize your research and account management skills to work directly with end clients as well as both senior executives and junior staff at YouGov. You will typically serve as a point person with high level gaming, esports and interactive entertainment clients as you conduct multiple connected and custom projects within the gaming industry/sector category team, working on all phases from proposal writing to survey and project design to results and insights delivery. You will play a critical role in ensuring success with clients in ways that grow and extend YouGov’s gaming, esports, and interactive entertainment business. The work and coverage will broadly extend into consumer technology as well.

    While you will report to and be part of a team primarily based in our Portland, OR office, we are considering fully remote applications as well, for applicants based elsewhere in the US (potentially where YouGov has other offices as well).

    What will I be doing day to day?

    • Work both independently and as part of a team to oversee, own, and manage all aspects of connected and custom projects, from proposal/bid phase, to survey/screener development, field management, data processing, analysis, report writing, and presenting
    • Work closely with clients, senior executives, additional team members, and internal departments / functions to manage project and overall client book of business outcomes
    • Act as a responsive and trusted advisor/consultant to clients in the context of research projects, and generate strong client relationships and delivery skills that lead to repeat business from current clients or extensions of them, ideally leading to projects and relationships to primarily call “your own”
    • Write full proposals and recommend research designs
    • Design and write connected and custom research reports with actionable insights and recommendations and present findings to our clients
    • Manage and identify ways of driving down direct costs
    • Perform analysis on collected data and interpret findings in ways that answer key business questions; apply knowledge of multivariate techniques to comfortably present
    • Assist in supervision and training of direct staff
    • Proactively develop gaming and technology-related sector expertise to the benefit of technology clients and the business, including supporting sector leads in the building of sector-related capabilities within the organization (e.g., knowledge sharing with sales, research)
    • Focus on quantitative but also execute on some qualitative projects or modules as needed; ability to moderate focus groups and/or one-on-one interviews considered a plus

    Qualifications

    What do I need to bring with me?

    • Minimum 5+ years conducting custom, primary market research projects, with majority of that experience on the supplier/vendor side
    • Specific expertise and interest in the financial services sector a key plus
    • Diverse knowledge of a wide variety of research techniques across a wide range of clients, business needs, and contexts including new product development, concept testing, segmentation, pricing, branding, messaging, positioning, brand health drivers, continual tracking initiatives, etc.
    • Knowledge of and history with stats, including the application of more advanced approaches and methods such as segmentation techniques, driver modeling techniques, discrete choice / conjoint / choice-based techniques, MaxDiff, not necessarily ability to crunch ore model the numbers, which is typically handled by marketing science-focused staff)
    • Proven ability to independently develop/write complex, multi-audience and multi-topic quantitative surveys, to fully address and operationalize client business questions, needs, objectives, and hypotheses
    • Proven ability to independently write complex, slides-based (PPT Slides) research reports focused on business question insights and implications, narrative-driven synthesis, and story-telling through data visualizations, graphics, infographics, and insights-driven headlines
    • Strong experience with Word/Docs, Excel/Sheets, PowerPoint/Slides, SPSS
    • Effective writing, time management, multitasking, communication, problem solving, and interpersonal skills
