We are looking for a talented Product Designer or potentially a UI/UX Developer. Our ideal candidate is someone who is detail oriented, able to design beautiful interfaces, and is able/learning to write code to implement the designs as well. Rally is a real-time multiplayer experience with lots of intricate functionalities and configurable options - it's a very challenging design problem, which is best suited to someone who has their feet in both design and engineering.
Rally started as a social events platform, serving all kinds of customers. The challenge we are facing at Rally is designing a product for a specific niche amongst our customers. To solve this problem, we need someone who is able to talk to our current customers as well as potential customers, understand a subset of their needs, and then design, iterate, and ideally code a solution they'd use.
You'll be working very closely with the founders and will be a major contributor to the voice and direction of the company. Depending on your skillset a typical week may involve working on a mock up and showing 10 customers your work for feedback. It could be designing a new feature and working with engineering to code or implement the feature. It may mean testing and gathering feedback on your work and understanding how to make changes. It may also mean just learning how to work with React, GraphQL or other aspects of our tech stack depending on what you want to do. Ultimately we are a startup with less than 5 people and we'd want someone who is willing to adapt, learn quickly, and embrace change.
Responsibilities:
Depending on the candidate this could be a full time or contract based role. Happy to chat about what you're looking for and your skillset.
Our Stack:
Rally is in some ways more like a realtime multiplayer video game than it is like a typical web application. We are streaming multiple video and audio streams, and must optimize CPU usage and framerate. We are managing real-time state and behavioural rules in a central "game" server, and firing off events to large numbers of clients in real-time. Lots of tough and interesting technical challenges to solve - not just another CRUD app 😀. Come join us in our quest to bring the energy back into online gatherings! 🙌
