Role Purpose

Drive market share analysis by working with the Service Provider Networks analyst team and service area practice leaders. Market share coverage will include optical networks, data center interconnect, optical components and access networks. This position will focus on researching telecom networking equipment manufacturers and service providers. Data and insight on these markets are a key point of differentiation and leadership for Omdia. 

Main Areas of Responsibility & Accountability

• Conduct primary and secondary research on products, services, vendors, and service providers
• Cultivate a deep understanding of telecom capex and service subscribers
• Develop relationships with product manufacturers and service providers in the telecom markets to facilitate primary research
• Work with wider SPN  analyst team  in the creation of market size, market forecasts, and market analysis in a variety of telecom and data networking markets
• Forge and maintain relationships with all players in the ecosystem, including equipment manufacturers, chip and component manufacturers, test and measurement providers, service providers, end-users, and investment analysts
• Speak at conferences and present key data findings to customers
• Forge and maintain relationships with the trade and business press, providing useful data and opinion in publications, raising awareness of our services and brand
• Support enquiries from sales and customer service on client’s enquiries on our report
• Participate in custom consult work
• Act as liaison with production and editorial teams

•Bachelor's degree in economics, statistics, engineering or industry-related fields required; graduate degree or MBA is a plus

•Demonstrable experience in the telecom/data networking market

•Telecommunications industry work experience

•An understanding of telecom/data networking technologies, vendors, enterprises, service providers, products, services, and market and technology trends

•Expert analytic, logic, and quantitative skills

•Knowledge of research area, supplier landscape, products/technology

•Advanced Excel for data building, data manipulation, and pivot table creation

•Primary research interview and data gathering skills

•Multitasking – ability to prioritize competing tasks effectively

•Use assumptions and logical thinking to create estimates and forecasts

•Strong organization skills to manage multiple planned and unplanned projects

•Help in creation of market share and forecasts
