Job Description

At Shopify, our mission is to make commerce better for everyone. In support of that mission, the retail content marketing team creates content that helps in-person sellers build great retail businesses, and teaches them how Shopify can help. 

As the Senior Content Marketing Manager, Campaigns, your part in that mission will be to 

develop content campaigns that help us convert more in-person sellers to our Point of Sale product.  

This role will own the creation of gated content assets such as research reports, ebooks, webinars and more, and collaborate closely with our demand generation team on distribution strategies and post-download email journeys. 

You’ll develop a deep understanding of our retail merchants and build relationships with our merchant-facing teams to inform your content creation, work closely with product and product marketing teams to understand how our solutions solve retailers’ problems, collaborate with our team of content marketers to align on priority themes, commission content to freelancers, and ensure your assets are promoted to the right people.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop a deep understanding of our audience and product: You’ll be responsible for understanding the needs of in-person sellers as well as the wider retail industry landscape. You’ll also be responsible for working with our product experts to understand how Shopify solutions can meet merchant needs. The deeper your understanding of our merchants and products, the more relevant (& high-converting) your content will be. 

  • Collaborate across marketing to inform and promote content: You’ll be part of a team of retail content marketers—while each is focused on a unique goal, making sure there’s alignment across the team will be key to developing a strong overall content program. Not only will you collaborate with your fellow content marketers on strategy, but you’ll also work closely with merchant and product-facing teams to inform your content, our Marketing UX team for the design and development of your assets, and our demand generation team for the promotion and follow-up journeys for your assets. 

  • Build high-converting content campaigns that align with priority topics: You will create gated content strategies that align to our key content themes–considering the full customer journey, from content discovery to conversion. 

Qualifications

  • You have at least 5 years of experience in B2B content marketing. Bonus if you have experience in the retail space.

  • You can provide multiple examples of times you’ve owned gated content creation—including research, strategy development, writing, and working with craft experts on design, distribution, and follow-up journeys.  

  • You’re a talented writer and editor with a knack for distilling complex ideas into clear, easy-to-understand language whether that’s in your briefs, strategy docs, or long-form content. 

  • You understand how to balance process and flexibility—building repeatable, streamlined workflows that help you scale while adapting to the evolving needs of the business.  

  • You have experience working with project management software (e.g. Asana), analytics software (e.g. Google Analytics, Google Search Console), and content management systems (bonus if you’ve worked with sites built on Shopify). 

  • You’ve worked with demand generation, product marketing, and marketing design teams before. 

  • You love developing a deep understanding of your audience and have a genuine interest in the commerce space.
