Job Description

The Project Director will be a member of the Center for the Evaluation of Value and Risk in Health (CEVR), within the Institute for Clinical Research and Health Policy Studies at Tufts Medical Center in Boston. 

The Project Director will work both independently and with the research team to manage, update, and maintain the Cost-Effectiveness Analysis (CEA) Registry and Global Health CEA Registry. The Project Director will also develop and implement project research and data analysis plans and contribute text to reports and manuscripts.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Database management of ongoing, periodic literature searches and of the data collection process for both Registries.
  • Project direction, including tracking of the project timeline, planning external meetings, and engaging with project partners and stakeholders.
  • Oversight of supporting staff members for management and technical support
  • Management of Registry readers and CEVR summer fellows (interns), including provision of necessary training and updating training materials.
  • Quality control efforts for Registry data, such as troubleshooting issues with search strategies, data collection, and coding.
  • Conception, design, project direction, and key sponsor contact for numerous non-Registry research studies, including manuscript development and conference presentation.
  • Production of other research deliverables (e.g., development of questionnaires and data collection forms) as needed.
  • Obtaining funding for and leading new research projects, including both domestic and international sponsors.
  • Development of communications materials and strategy for both global and domestic projects, development of webinar content, recruitment of external speakers, and advertisement to international community.
  • Mentoring and training of junior staff beyond Registry-based personnel.

Qualifications

JOB KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

  • Experience manipulating and analyzing large datasets, such as claims data or other healthcare data
  • Experience conducting and managing systematic literature reviews.
  • Experience using statistical and general programming language (e.g., SQL, R, SAS, or STATA). 
  • Strong written communication skills, e.g., as demonstrated by a history of major contributions to published reports or manuscripts, and lead authorship of published or unpublished papers or reports that present original analytic work.
  • Knowledge of health economics in general and cost-effectiveness analysis in particular is highly desirable.
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills needed to interact with physicians, administrators, academic staff, and support staff.
  • Outstanding attention to detail needed. Ability to meet needs of competing demands simultaneously.
  • Strong organizational, developmental and analytical skills and the ability to anticipate programmatic needs required.
  • Ability to lead and direct others by setting priorities for completion of multiple tasks.

EDUCATION:

  • Master’s degree (or higher) in health policy, health economics, public health, decision science, or a related field.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Five to seven years’ management experience within an academic medical center, health policy, health economics, decision science or a related field.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience which provides proficiency in the areas of responsibility listed above may be substituted for the above education and experience requirements.

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Normal office work environment.
  • Work requires continuous typing/computer keying.
