Software Engineer - Financial System

As a Senior System Engineer, you will be responsible for using technology to solve big business problems developing software that is robust to various kinds of network, system, and state failures without compromising the data and business applications that use it.

You will also be responsible for profiling and improving front-end performance and documenting our front-end codebase. You will be part of the finance engineering team that builds technology for Wish’s Financial Planning & Analysis, Forecasting, Budgeting, Cost Management, Revenue computation, Treasury, Tax and Compliance services.. Our technology enables automation of monthly closing of books, quarterly wall street reporting, accurate direct and in-direct tax calculations, provides Billing (Invoices, Receipts) services to our partners, and regulatory compliance worldwide. This requires building and operating large scale services, simple web and mobile user experiences, Automation of financial business process, ensuring accuracy, audit controls and completeness of data for financial and operational reporting and analysis

What you'll be doing:

• We're looking for experienced and passionate engineers to make an impact at Wish by developing software to process, transform and analyze the data to identify signals from billions of events we collect every day.
• Designing and Developing data collection and processing systems to handle large data sets. 
• Designing innovative solutions and solving challenging problems.
• Building and integrating scalable backend systems, services, and tools to various finance applications.

• Work with different team members, product managers, and business users to develop the products they design for solving business needs. We use Java, GoLang, Python, SQL, Oracle PL/SQL, Javascript, APEX, Unix Shell Scripting.
• Enhance the products in the Fin Eng portfolio and provide extraordinary support for month-end tasks.
• In addition to building products, we also buy and implement 3rd party software (both cloud and on-premise solutions such as Coupa, Oracle Netsuite, Expensify, Kyriba, etc) in order to meet our business needs. You will develop integrations between these products as part of the implementation.
• Work directly with business users to provide extraordinary support on transforming large volumes of data for analysis.
• Build, maintain and innovate on the systems that drive the functional areas of Accounting Procurement, Payments, Supply Chain, Invoicing, etc.
• Design and Develop data collecting and processing systems to handle large data sets. You’ll have the opportunity to design innovative data solutions and solve challenging problems.
• Build and integrate scalable backend systems, services, platforms, and tools.
• Design, Develop and Support highly parallel, and fault-tolerant applications.
• Build and integrate scalable backend systems, services, platforms, and tools.
• Optimize current approaches to efficiently handle ever-increasing volumes of data.
• Build proof of concept using modern technologies and convert them into production-grade implementation.
• Document application changes and develops updates.
• Contribute to the design and code of complex data pipelines operating on production data.
• Take ownership of your area from start to finish and write highly efficient programs.
• Work with Product Managers, Data Analysts, Designers, QA etc. teams to take any project from inception to completion.
• Develop a good understanding of key financial business processes and its controls (Billing, Revenue Management, Procure-to-Pay, Quote-to-Cash).

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field or equivalent work experience.
• Solid experience with development, integration, and tuning using Presto, Spark, Hive, or other Query processing frameworks.
• 4+ years of experience in Software Development or Software Engineering.
• Strong understanding of the engineering stack, and how each piece fits into the whole.
• Experience working on Amazon Web Services, or other cloud computing platforms.
• Expertise with SQL and data storage systems.
• Experience with Boomi and designing processes using Boomi.
• Experience and knowledge of modern data warehouse, pipeline, and reporting/analytic techniques and tools such as Airflow, Presto/Hive, Spark, or any other scheduling frameworks, Tableau, or other reporting tools.
• Bonus: Any knowledge of Oracle ERP or any other Financial systems is a plus.
• Bonus: Experience working on pulling data from MongoDb and integrating it to ERP financial system.
• Bonus: Technical knowledge of NetSuite saved searches, workflows, form customization, custom reporting, etc.
• Bonus: Experience in creating best-practice reports and dashboards based on data mining, analysis, and visualization.
