Job Description

As a Technical Program Manager / Product Owner, you will be part of the Shopify Global Revenue Technology and Operations team, which manages the global technology stack and system processes that drive our Commercial Revenue team and impact the merchant experience. The team focuses on ensuring the right processes and tools are delivered at the right time, delivering on initiatives quickly while ensuring solutions are built for the long term. 

As a Technical Program Manager / Product Owner you will support the planning and execution of initiatives within the project portfolio, working with Revenue leaders and partnered stakeholders to analyze, redefine, and monitor activities to ensure maximum efficiency in support of our goals.

 About the role:

  • Responsible for performance, oversight, and reporting of project portfolio

  • Facilitate project prioritization, resource allocation, and project approval decision-making

  • Work closely with our Operations Research team to support metric tracking and KPIs across the portfolio

  • Partner directly with Marketing, Sales, Support, IT to help prioritize product roadmaps, deliver strategic recommendations and analyses, and develop systems, tooling, and operational strategies that drive growth for the business.

  • Create Executive-level status materials with the ability to summarize portfolio status to Executive leadership

  • Identify interdependencies across projects and programs within the overall portfolio

  • Develop and communicate progress updates and status report content to key stakeholders

  • Present status to varying levels of leadership (including Senior/Executive-level)

  • Coordinate the creation and cross-functional assessment of business cases for project development and work with the various teams to get recommendations implemented.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of Portfolio, Program, or Project Management work experience (or 5+ years post-MBA or equivalent higher degree), preferably in tech strategy/ops functions or management consulting.

  • Highly skilled in developing, publishing, and presenting Executive level slide decks and reports.

  • Ability to iterate on and drive the business cadence for all teams, including biweekly, monthly, quarterly and annual business updates to increase visibility and accountability around metrics.

  • Ability to organize complex objectives into individual related tasks and measurable deliverables.

  • Highly skilled in identifying task structures, relationships, and dependencies.

  • Ability to facilitate meetings to define requirements, project planning, decision negotiations, risk and issue identification and management, and status tracking.

  • Experience in managing a project portfolio or multiple medium to large projects of complex dependencies, risks, and project metrics.

  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills.

  • Experience in a fast, dynamic, and constantly-changing environment.

  • Great interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate across departments.

  • Experience with implementing and supporting Salesforce and Marketo.
