Senior Application Engineer

The Senior Application Engineer/Developer is responsible for designing and developing back-end and front-end solutions within IWMS applications to provide customized, integrated software solutions to clients and internal team. This includes understanding client needs, analyzing data, coding, testing and implementation within Archibus, configuration tools, database and web technologies (SQL, Java, HTML, etc.) and creating end-user documentation and training support.

The candidate should be passionate about design, in the technological sense, and provide leadership in the creative process by developing innovative concepts that enrich facilities management solutions for customers and end-users.

Responsibilities

• Implement innovative web-based applications which comprise the full suite of Archibus products and services
• Design, develop, and test web-based applications for Archibus Professional Services customers
• Interface and communicate with Customers (limited), Project Managers, Product Management and back-office Development teams
• Code all aspects of the applications and often design the software architecture
• Perform end-to-end testing of the application, including any server components with which the app might interface
• Utilize Agile development methodology
• Create documentation of system changes and designs
• Act as a subject matter expert for Application Engineers
• Provide solutions through data analysis, code review, editing, query development and testing

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a Technology field with programming emphasis and 2 to 4 years' experience with relevant programming skills
• Ability to work fully remote
• Self-motivated with a demonstrated ability to work independently and with minimal supervision
• In depth working knowledge of advanced JavaScript programming techniques – at least 2 years of experience developing JavaScript (required)
• In depth working knowledge of advanced Java/Spring programming techniques – at least 2 years of experience developing Java/Spring (required)
• Experience writing complex SQL queries and analyzing large amounts of data in SQL databases– at least 2 year of experience (required)
• Familiarity with HTML and XML
• Understanding of programming concepts, such as common data structures and algorithms, programming logic, data validation, and user interface design
• Skilled in capturing and documenting business processes from non-technical personnel and identifying user needs/system requirements
• Ability to analyze business requirements against existing system functionality to determine solutions within the commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) product requiring little to no customization
• Possess strong work ethic and organizational skills, with the ability to be flexible, work under deadlines and handle multiple projects
• Strong analytical skills and proven problem-solving ability
• Experience providing user support and obtaining error details from users to replicate, troubleshoot and solve system problems
• Ability to establish and maintain strong working relationships with internal team and customer personnel
• Willingness to take on new challenges

Preference

• Experience deploying cloud-based solutions using Amazon Web Services (AWS)
• Familiarity with GIT and/or other source control tools
• Knowledge of facility management concepts and/or Archibus or other Integrated Workplace Management System (IWMS) is beneficial
• Working knowledge of Apache Tomcat is a plus
