RF Optimization Engineer

We are deploying infrastructure for 5G Networks. A telecommunications startup focused on  efficient and strategic support to the nationwide 5G deployment, helping OEMs and operators achieve enhanced connectivity for their networks.

The RF Network Optimization Engineer will be required to work independently to perform RF network optimization activities during network rollout phase. Optimization of CDMA / LTE / 5G networks to troubleshoot and improve KPIs Performs RF performance activities in customer projects independently, according to project plan and in project managers guidance Analysis of KPIs, investigation and improvement of network quality problems Analysis of neighbor relations and implementation of corrections Customer problem investigation Troubleshoot system problems such as Pilot pollution, drop calls, dropped connections, handoff failures and interference issues. Perform root-cause analysis of RF issues to meet target KPIs. Recommend parameter changes to improve performance and prepare status reports. Generate scripts necessary for RF optimization. Network elements monitoring, analysis, fine tuning, optimization and troubleshooting. Operates in compliance with the processes, methods and tools linked to the job and possesses service excellence awareness Education & Experience or Other Requirements: Education & Experience or Other Requirements: BS or MS in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Telecommunications, or Computer Science CDMA & LTE / 5G   technology understanding and know-how CDMA & LTE / 5G design and optimization experience External primarily works at a facility or off-site? Customer Office Provisioning: Provides e-mail & systems access, office space at office space at customer location, connectivity, etc. Provisioning: Supplier Provides Supplier/external provides: cell phone and laptop.

 Responsibilities:

•  Perform LTE / 5G RF design and optimization activities (Mainly RF Design).
•  Perform network optimization analysis and recommendations using a combination of drive data and network statistics.

• Must be expert in Nokia or Ericsson equipment and have experience in LTE / 5G UMTS optimization.
• 4+ years strong RF Design work experience.
• Familiar with CBRS and SAS concepts
• Good understanding of Link budget and ability to create link budgets.
• Working experience with small cells and understanding of radio propagation below clutter.
• Familiarity with 3GPP Rel 8-13 features, CA, CoMP etc and LTE / 5G network architecture.
• Understanding of Propagation Model tuning.
• Proficient in using propagation tools (preferably - Atoll, Overture and iBwave)
• In-building Design (small/medium and large venues such as stadiums) and optimization experience.
• Experience with X-CAL, X-Cap, Wireshark and iPerf.
• Able to perform LTE / 5G network parameter Optimization
• Able to perform traffic and statistical analysis.
• Familiarity with SON Features such as ANR, Auto PCI, LB, MRO, Pilot Pollutions, Overshooting, PCI Collision.
• Understanding of layer 3 message flow.
• Understanding of networking concepts DNS, DHCP, IP connectivity, VLAN, subnetting and IPsec etc. (CCNA desired)
• Able to perform site build verifications and acceptance process.
• Familiarity with GIS tools Such as MapInfo and Google Earth.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
