Job Description

Peer Mentor Volunteers – Manchester/Greater Manchester/ Bolton/Wigan/Bury/Rochdale/Tameside/Stockport/Salford/Trafford/Oldham

Mitie Care and Custody are looking for energetic and passionate individuals to join their Peer Mentor Volunteer programme working across Greater Manchester. A Mitie Peer Mentor will be carefully matched with clients referred from the Custody Suite and will use their life experience and skills to instigate change; motivate and encourage positive life choices; be there to listen and reassure during a challenging time. The role is varied, challenging, motivational, always rewarding and will be tailored to both client and Peer Mentor, aim and objective dependent.

About you:

You will be volunteering:

  • Alongside studies

  • In conjunction with work

  • For personal development

  • To gain experience in the CJS/H&S sector

  • To give back to the community

You will work:

  • any number of hours desired to fit in with your life and commitments

  • from home and out in the community

  • as soon as possible after training and induction

  • in any borough of Greater Manchester of your choosing



You will have:

  • lived experience of the Criminal Justice System

  • lived experience of any additional vulnerabilities including homelessness; substance misuse; mental health; offending; domestic abuse; childhood trauma

  • good communications

  • proactive attitude

Additional Information
