Your Career

Unit 42 by Palo Alto Networks is seeking a motivated threat intelligence analyst to join the Adversary Readiness and Evaluation Strategies (ARES) team in our Threat Intelligence organization. As a Unit 42 Threat Intelligence Analyst, you will be responsible for collecting and analyzing threat data, identifying trends in threat data, and building threat profiles for emerging and enduring threats. 

Unit 42 is a recognized authority on cyberthreats, frequently sought out by enterprises and government agencies around the world. Our analysts are experts in hunting and collecting unknown threats as well as completely reverse-engineering malware to support our organization’s goals. With this expertise, we deliver high-quality, in-depth research that provides insight into tools, techniques, and procedures threat actors execute to compromise organizations. 

Your Impact

• Analyze threat activities and make intelligence-derived recommendations for adversary readiness
• Translate threat lifecycle activities into Actionable Threat Objects & Mitigations (ATOMs), a STIX2 JSON blob representing the threat for consumption by consumers
• Demonstrate experience in data mining and pivot analysis in both closed and open-source systems
• Participate in quick-turnaround threat analysis support for high-visibility threat research
• Conduct ongoing research into cyber threats across the entire threat landscape
• Collaborate and communicate with both technical and non-technical personnel
• Create and deliver your research in the form of blogs, whitepapers, and presentation

Your Experience

• Proven experience or interest in public speaking engagements to share your threat research
• Experience with cross-team collaboration in research, engineering, and management
• Excellent understanding of adversary tactics, techniques, and procedures
• Scripting and programming experience a plus
• Experience with open-source tools for gathering cyber intelligence data
• Ability to identify key trends in threat activities and create detailed threat assessments, including the potential impact
• Able to work independently and as a part of a team that includes regular interactions with other threat researchers and malware reverse engineers
• Familiar with MITRE ATT&CK Framework and other adversary threat lifecycles
• BS and 2+ years of in-depth experience in the cyber security space.
