Job Description

The Team: As Shopify evolves, our relationships with some of the largest companies in the world become multi-faceted, more complex, and more impactful to our merchants. The One Shopify team builds and nurtures global partnerships with companies like Google, Facebook, TikTok, Apple, and Microsoft taking a holistic, cross-Shopify point of view. 

Role Description: As a team member you’ll be collaborating with our product and merchant teams to identify and drive complex first-of-a-kind deals and growth initiatives with our most strategic partners. You’ll be in charge of both the end-to-end relationship management, and the long-term success of these partnerships, including future business development initiatives across any Shopify product area with existing (or new) partners.

We are looking for highly collaborative individuals who are passionate about commerce, technology and business strategy. You’ll interact heavily with engineering, product, design, support, and marketing teams and be seen as an expert internally and externally on Shopify products, partner priorities and ecosystem trends. You’ll need to be able to quickly create meaningful relationships both internally and externally, and ultimately, sign and deliver impactful engagements. We value critical and creative thinkers and to be successful, you will need to have a strong product sense, be driven, proactive, and action-orientated. 


  • Think strategically about new product opportunities and business models and play an integral role in driving the strategic partnerships strategy across our product lines

  • Lead discussions with Product/Eng and cross functional teams to define priorities and roadmaps and ensure alignment with partners by building joint business plans. Work will include product strategy and alignment, business cases with a robust set of KPIs and success metrics, deal negotiation, GTM plans and integration development

  • Be independently minded and laser focused on your partnership growth goals

  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills. You’re comfortable drafting documents to convey your arguments asynchronously, and lead executive level discussions internally and externally

  • Manage executive-level contacts with key partners, including executive relationship mapping, QBRs, and C-level stakeholder management.

  • We value individuals with a growth mindset, who are confident, but humble, who roll up their sleeves, and who have strong opinions that are weakly held.




These are the must-haves:

  • Strong product sense with prior experience working with or on product teams or at a product driven company

  • Excellent negotiation, forecasting, and problem solving skills

  • Exceptional presentation, communication, and interpersonal skills.

  • An ability to think strategically and creatively using sound business judgment

You should also have:

  • Proven experience working with a highly empowered team to launch partner integrations and influence strategy

  • Prior Product Partnerships, BD/Sales or contractual negotiation experience 

  • Tenacity and passion for quality and details. You know how to be persuasive with facts and numbers

  • You work fast, you’re resourceful and you have a go-getter mentality. You also have the ability to navigate ambiguity

  • You have a genuine Interest and passion for the industry

  • You’re skilled in market research to identify gaps, needs and potential solutions
