Job Description

Technology Services (TS) is a team within Shopify whose mission is to optimize the merchant experience with technology and problem solving.  To build and scale merchant experiences within our team we’re launching a new Program called the Technology Services Transformation — this role is integral to us succeeding with this ambitious and challenging undertaking.

 

The Program Manager is responsible for the planning and execution of strategic initiatives within Technology Services. They will manage a portfolio of projects, run experiments and pilots and deliver on quarterly OKR’s. Through regular stakeholder communications, the TS PM will be our change management champion across Technology Services. The Program Manager should seek quantitative and qualitative ways for Technology Services to measure all the effectiveness of this program.

Responsibilities:

  • Deep understanding of change management practices and experience implementing them into large-scale, global transformation projects and programs.

  • Planning and owning change management and ensuring dependency buy-in 

  • Identifying owners/stakeholders, and ensuring successful execution of initiatives

  • Working closely with program managers across Shopify to align on projects, tooling, and methodologies

  • Communicating regularly with stakeholders via 1:1’s, project updates, presentations, and quarterly reporting.

  • Managing resources and time effectively to deliver on multiple projects simultaneously

  • Build relationships and open communication across regional leadership to keep informed of local initiatives and coordinate on behalf of the global team

Qualifications

  • A proven history of planning and executing highly dependent strategic initiatives 

  • Program and project management skills that include starting and landing projects, measuring their impact and documenting the process.

  • Strong relationship management skills - you can interact with diverse technical and non-technical groups with the ability to hold people accountable

  • Business Acumen - language, listening skills, presentation and actions

  • Strong attention to detail - and can collect, document, and articulate merchant goals, requirements and organizational nuances

  • Exceptional writing skills - and are able to create and massage messaging for technical and non-technical stakeholders

  • Understanding of ecommerce best practices, industry trends, merchandising and marketing, 

  • You are a change management expert and know that big changes take time and understanding.

  • You have a high level of operational and organizational acumen

  • You have the willingness to learn and develop your skills

  • You are proactive and can prioritize across multiple competing priorities

  • You are a great listener and able to ask strong insightful questions

  • You can juggle multiple priorities and projects at the same time

  • You have the ability to negotiate, persuade and influence others to advocate for your project or team’s needs
