As a leader within the engineering teams, you would be responsible for the successful leadership of an engineering team and the delivery of our products. You would work alongside product managers, designers, other key stakeholders to build and execute on product and technology roadmaps. We would rely on you to build a strong culture, define best practices, help the other engineers in your team grow, and facilitate the work of your team.

What you’ll do:

• This role will be a player coach role, our engineering team believes that no one should ever be too far from the code.  So the incumbent should be still be excited by coding and also leading and growing a team (likely 50/50 to start)
• Be a technical evangelist within the engineering teams and at Purpose in general.
• You will be both a people and technical leader for your team and help guide our technical direction
• Coaching engineers on your team to help them grow personally and professionally while promoting an environment of collaboration and innovation.
• Build relationships with stakeholders across the organization to index for greatest impact
• Influence the working culture of the team and champion innovation.
• Own the build and delivery of our technical and product roadmaps.
• Mentor team members on better system design, coding practices, tools and techniques.

Who you are:

• Experienced developer with at least 7+ years of experience.
• Have prior experience leading a team.
• Establish and promote standards for system design, continuous deployment, defensive programming, and scalability.
• Experienced with front end Javascript frameworks like React or Vue (we use Vue).
• Have a deep understanding of responsive design, Javascript design patterns, and web architecture.
• You excel at mentoring people and help them grow across multiple domains.
• Able to define and track through solid metrics.
• Able to work in an agile development environment focused on iterative delivery.
• Experience building APIs using Python, Django or similar technologies is a plus.
