The YouGov's Data Science team is looking to hire one or more Data Scientists to work on a variety of projects for internal and external clients.
Data Scientist / Senior Data Scientist
Washington, D.C./New York/San Francisco or remote
We develop models and predictions using a combination of surveys, voter databases, census microdata, behavioral tracking and other sources. We handle the most difficult data problems at our company, including massive datasets, missing data, self-selection, measurement error, fraud detection, and many more. Candidates should have strong R programming skills and be motivated to contribute independently on tough research problems.
Qualifications
Strong proficiency with writing code in R (tidyverse style preferred)
Deep understanding of (and ability to learn) a variety of statistical methods – regression, causal inference, multilevel regression models, machine learning, MRP
Skilled at communicating results and research methodology though reports (R Markdown, Shiny, data visualization with ggplot)
Ability to digest and communicate statistical information to nontechnical stakeholders
Strong project management, attention to detail, and written and oral communication skills.
Nice to have:
PhD in quantitative field
Experience in building hierarchical and predictive models
Experience working with Census data and voter files
Knowledge of election administration in the United States
Experience with survey data – weighting, questionnaire design, etc.
Experience with relational databases such as PostgreSQL
