Job Description

I.          GENERAL SUMMARY:

The Post-Doctoral Research Fellow will be a member of the Center for Quantitative Methods and Data Science (QM&DS) within the Institute for Clinical Research and Health Policy Studies at Tufts Medical Center in Boston. Center for Health Solutions, which is part of the Institute for Clinical Research and Health Policy Studies at Tufts Medical Center in Boston. 

Under the training supervision of the Principal Investigator, the Post-Doctoral Research Fellow will participate in and support research activities. Activities include but are not limited to reviewing and summarizing literature, collecting and preparing data, conducting advanced data analysis, and preparing manuscripts and presentations. The fellow also provides research project support for team meetings and activities. The position requires strong writing, organizational, and analytic skills. The fellow must be able to work independently and handle competing demands in order to meet project deadlines. 

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Responsible for managing research projects, as directed by Primary Investigator (PI), to include ensuring ongoing forward movement of projects and ensuring deliverables are met in accordance with project timelines.
  • Responsible for conducting advanced data analyses, including for example analysis of genomic data such as single cell and bulk RNA data, serum proteomics and metabolomics, genetics.
  • Enhances professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, current literature, in-service meetings, and workshops.
  • Conducting literature searches and developing written literature summaries.
  • Assisting with manuscript and grant application preparation, including the drafting of text, preparation of tables and figures, and preparation of bibliographies.
  • Assisting with other research activities (e.g., development of questionnaires and data collection forms).
  • Providing general project support for research conducted by the research team, including meeting preparation and arrangement, maintaining study files, data tracking and follow up.
  • Maintains collaborative, team relationships with peers and colleagues in order to effectively contribute to the working groups achievement of goals, and to help foster a positive work environment.
  • Attends meetings as required.
  • Performs other similar and related duties as required or directed.

Qualifications

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Strong programming skills, including proficiency with SAS and Rstudio for statistical analysis and with other bioinformatics tools.
  • Proven ability to work independently with limited supervision, as well as in a collaborative team environment
  • Project management skills as demonstrated through ability to multi-task, prioritize responsibilities and produce research deliverables on time.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and extremely high standards of performance.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills are essential

EDUCATION:

  • PhD in Bioinformatics or a related field.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum of two years research experience acquired through a research assistant position in an academic setting, health policy, decision science or a related field.

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Normal office work environment. The responsibilities of this position can be fulfilled working onsite or remotely.
