Job Description

SSENSE is looking for a Software Developer to join our rapidly growing technology team. The level 2 Software Developer will join a squad and deepen his knowledge of software development. As an integral part of the team, he/she will autonomously develop and deliver well-defined features of the product roadmap.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Product delivery

  • Understand and contribute to the technical conception and help more senior developers to document the technical design through Unified Modeling Language (UML) and confluence
  • Build a technical foundation by continuously learning from peers, online training, and SSENSE University 
  • Deliver autonomously and on-time well-defined and simple to medium complexity features respecting quality and coding standards with limited guidance from more senior developers

Ownership and accountability

  • Be accountable for code quality with the assistance of a QA Analyst to conduct adequate testing
  • Own the coordination and delivery of the technical documentation for the team

Knowledge sharing and coaching

  • Join SSENSE University sessions to ramp up on various technologies
  • Participate in the buddy program and the onboarding of new developers 

Architecture

  • Understand the detailed design of the solutions to be built

Recruiting

  • Participate in HR recruiting events, helping to identify and recruit top developers

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field
  • A minimum of 2 years Object Oriented Programming (OOP) experience, or equivalent
  • Knowledge of microservices and ability to write simple a microservice
  • Knowledge of caching concepts and ability to implement caching for simple cases
  • Familiar with various database systems and able to write complex queries with guidance
  • Knowledge of cloud concepts and able to follow instructions to use them with guidance
  • Knowledge of container concepts and able to follow instructions to use them with guidance
  • Understanding of the basics of Git and able to use it with clear directions
  • Strong English written and verbal communication skills, French an asset
